Mick to make decision in the summer

Sounds a bit like a gentleman's agreement to leave at the end of this season.
Don't know what others think?

I think it needs to be before the season ticket renewals. The fans need to know.

Re: Mick to make decision in the summer
Sounds to me like he knows the future plan is to play the youngsters and I'm not sure he believes in them that much. I think he is saying he will try it but if he doesn't feel they are good enough at the end of season he will walk.
However if they do well and we have a good second half of the season he would consider staying.
The main reason I don't think he believes in the youngsters is he wouldn't have played Douglas and skuse together Tuesday if he did really want to integrate younger players.

Re: Mick to make decision in the summer
I read it that he knows he has lost the fans and it won't be possible to turn it around and with that it mind I believe he will 99% walk away in the Summer, I think that is now certain because I don't think you can stay at a club once you have said you will look at things and decide if you want to stay, to me that is not a healthy situation.
To be honest I am not too comfortable with this situation for the remainder of this season either !! The players will feel like there is little pressure on them as he will be gone anyway so do they need to produce the goods ? How can we expect new players to sign for us now when the manager has stated he may not be here ? I doubt we will see any new faces of any note coming here now.

Probably has no intention of going. Just giving us supporters a glimmer of hope!

Re: Mick to make decision in the summer
Also am I the only one who is concerned when Marcus Evans says hes now over Tuesdays defeat. Arguably the worst ever defeat in the clubs history and and seems to bat it off like its just another defeat. That says it all to me. Evans ambition doesn't really exist.
Bluemike maybe your right, only way MM could stay is if we stormed the second half of the season and the fans came back on side. But I'm not sure that will happen. Looks to be a dead man walking. Really going to be interesting when it comes to st renewals, situation is a weird one...

Re: Mick to make decision in the summer
It's all very confusing tbh.
One the hand I hate MM style of football and want him gone for that. It's so bloody boring to watch.
But on the other hand, he's had sod all meaningful financial backing - and certainly not to the level Keane, Magilton and Jewel had,, and I can't help but feel he's done the best he can on little funding ( a minor miracle in fact).
SO that brings me back to the real criminal in all this woe, and that's Marcus Evans.
10 years of owning thus Club, and we are over £80m in debt from an original £3m. And this, having made just about every cut possible in the Club.
WHY, are we still in such a bloody mess??
I feel so sorry for McCarthy whatever we think of him right now, he is essentially very honest and deserves better from Evans I think.

Re: Mick to make decision in the summer
On the basis he's likely to find it difficult to find similarly well paid employment my guess is that he'll hang on in there for as long as possible and at 58 I'm sure he's more than financially secure with enough funds to enjoy a comfortable retirement. On top of this he'd no doubt get plenty of tv pundit/media offers to help him through a period on transition.

A period of uncertainty is just what this club needs.

Re: Mick to make decision in the summer
Interesting read. I do agree with some of it. Thing is I think MM would have got a whole lot more respect from the fans if he stood up to the owner on this. If indeed Evans is refusing to back his manager with money on the back of progress using limited funds then Mick as manager should be demanding ambition from him or threatening to leave.
But this has all gone on too long and the fans are lost. I think some day in the reasonably near future we will be demanding the owner to sell up too. If he wont give MM money I can't see him giving anyone else money

It's certainly thought provoking Liz and as you say some very valid points which leads me back to the real problem, Marcus Evans.

Saving face following the garbage of mid-week. Would have been interesting to see the likelihood of this "news" item appearing had we remained in the competition. All this article provides is weeks of wild conjecture until the time in question.herforder wrote:Probably has no intention of going. Just giving us supporters a glimmer of hope!
McCarthy should have came forward after the Lincoln game and submitted his resignation. No months ahead of ambiguity or false information, just the best scenario for all involved. People can offer defense in that Evans hasn't provided sufficient money to build the team or make us competitive, but for the last time, ran out of patience with McCarthy's sub-standard managerial traits long ago such as team deployment, tactics, and tentative approach to games of all nature.

Re: Mick to make decision in the summer
It's something at least whereby there's an admission from MM that he isn't neccasarily the way forward.
I think a lot of fans can see this out to the end of the season... but would we want another 18 months of this until MM's contract runs out ?
Is this just something to offer fans a chink of light, get off MM's back for a bit and sell some ST's for next season?
They need those ST's to be sold. Get enough of those sold and they've got enough to survive another year.
Of course MM is getting a raw deal from ME on the surface, but I think it's agreed between them that they run this club on a shoestring. Cascorino's story does make you think, but it sounds like someone looking out for their mate. All that Irish blood running through their veins creates a very strong bond
. Can't see much sympathy for the fans in that story, but a lot of sympathy for his mate, Mick. Didn't hear him saying it was a bad job and bad contract before.

Well the simple answer is don't renew until we know right, you don't buy something without know what it does do you???Andym wrote:I think it needs to be before the season ticket renewals. The fans need to know.

Agree with you there, Ash! Maybe the fans should wait until summer before making the decision to purchase ST. Is there a deadline to buy season tickets?ashfordblue wrote:Well the simple answer is don't renew until we know right, you don't buy something without know what it does do you???Andym wrote:I think it needs to be before the season ticket renewals. There's a deadline after which the price goes up quite significantly.number 9 wrote:Agree with you there, Ash! Maybe the fans should wait until summer before making the decision to purchase ST. Last year they held the early bird price for a good while after the supposed deadline!
