A reply i had from the club after i sent a letter via emaill

Post by charlton837 » Mon Jan 23, 2017 11:22 am

I decided end of last week to write a letter and send it via email to the club, it was addressed to Marcus Evans but of course I knew there would be no chance he would read it. It was a fair letter, something that did not attack personally anyone in the club (Mick or Evans) but did state my feelings that I was far from happy and my reasoning's behind it. I did say that unless Marcus Evans wants to invest into this team he should look to sell as we are stagnating and declining at this moment, and that as a season ticket holder of 16 years (I am only 27) I am fed up of the boring football that is being produced. I said I felt it was time for Mick to go, not because hes such a bad manager but because his very presence is causing a huge divide in the club, and I lay much of that blame with Evans (but I do realize Mick is not helping himself at the moment!)

Anyway to cut a long story short I just wrote this in frustration and was interested to see if I got a reply, amazingly I did but what a load of tosh it is. Firstly it comes from a customer service rep called Edwina Sesto, so you can be sure it got absolutely nowhere near Evans, not that I expected it to, the reply reads the following;

Dear Mr Damant
Thank you for your email that has been passed to me for reply

We are all hurting at Town following the current run of form, however we have a tough second half of the season ahead of us and your support for the team on the pitch can be the difference between winning and losing.

The club appreciates there are many different opinions as to what needs to be done to improve but we have the same goal, to see a winning team and this will be more likely achieved if we stand together and urge the team on at every match.

I can assure you that everything possible is being done to turn the situation around and to return the pride in the club which I know all our loyal fans strive for.

Im sure this is a standard response to all the emails/letters they are getting, but it just sounds to me like they dismiss the real issues out of hand and almost pass the blame on to the fans to say that we need to get behind the team. I agree we do, but at the moment we are being let down, and even alientated to some extent by our manager and owner. How many snipes has Mick taken at the fans in recent months, it started sarcastically and now he is becoming borderline rude/insulting. Just further shows the disconnect between fans and club at the moment.

I didn't want to send anything to the papers, im not interested in all that, but I just wanted to see how they club would respond, I guess in reality they cant really respond in any other way but its still frustrating

Nope. Just a short concise statement that Ian Milne probably created to send to any disgruntled fans. "ah just feed them a line until renewals time" I can hear him saying.

"current run of form" are they sure about that? This has been going on for months, probably 18 months if truth be known! We haven't won back to back games in 30 matches including cup games. At what time does this stop becoming about "form" and more about the club in general!

They really do not get it, the thing is I want my season ticket for next year, I know that eventually Mick will go and someone else will come in, will it make a difference? probably not but I live in hope. But part of me wants to stick my middle finger up to it all and give it in. Head vs Heart!

To be fair that is exactly what you would get from any other club, doesn't make it right but it's a fact.

This thread reminded me of when a former work colleague applied for the vacant Managers job at Everton FC in the late 80's and received a very polite letter from the Chairman, thanking him for his application but informing that on this occasion they had a number of applications from individuals with greater relevant experience.

The letter on Everton FC headed paper was framed and hung on the wall in his office but was always a great talking point.

Sorry to run off topic.
