Both would without question do me, Tilt being Left Sided is a big plus, add to that his ball playing abilities and composure appeal to me also, we clearly want him but this dilly dallying around by Evans could see us miss out, Two bids already in so we clearly have an idea how much they ant, get it done !!

As for Nsiala isn't he Right sided ? That said I would take him in a heartbeat too, I think those Two with the experience of Chambo would be fine, add to that CB back up of Spence, Knudsen, Woolfenden and Chalobah gives us options, assuming they all stay at the club of course.

It'll be interesting to see how we line up today v West Ham,particularly in defence. I imagine Wolfenden will get a run out - so far he's looked pretty competent against non league and lower league sides in pre-season. Today will be a much bigger test and much more likely to show up the need for at least one if not two good centre backs. maybe PH is secretly hoping this will be enough for Evans to open his wallet a little wider and up the offer for Tilt to a level that Blackpool are prepared to accept before someone else nips in and steals him from under our noses.

Luke Woolfenden looked really solid and assured away to Reading end of last season too, a 4-0 win with him in the side will have done his confidence the world of good.

Blues boss Paul Hurst was interested to learn that Blackpool defender and Town target Curtis Tilt wasn’t involved in the Tangerines’ 1-1 draw at Crewe today, while his manager Gary Bowyer wouldn’t comment on the 26-year-old’s future.

Hurst, who confirmed he has multiple bids in at present, was told that central defender Tilt, the subject of two rebuffed Blues offers - the latest £550,000 - but with Town continuing to maintain their interest.

“Didn’t he? That’s interesting,” he said. “I wasn’t aware of that. I’m smiling, hopefully that’s good news.”

Asked about Tilt, Bowyer said after the Seasiders’ game: “That’s a question you’ll have to ask someone else at the football club. It’s not down to me on that.

“The boy has been fantastic all pre-season and he’s had a wonderful year with us.

“I just felt today he was a little bit tired and a little bit frustrated, but we’ll see what next week brings.”

Fingers crossed.

Are we on for making any money from a sell on clause if /when Jack Marriott moves from Posh to Derby.
I think he could prove to be a good buy.

Marriott was released by Town. I don’t think we can profit from telling the lad he’s too fat and not good enough in Mick’s eyes.

1.25 Million seems a bit steep, I expect like Harrison it would be half the figure quoted at least.
Town are again being linked with a move for Accrington Stanley striker Kayden Jackson.

According to The Sun on Sunday, Blues boss Paul Hurst is set to offer £1.25 million for the 24-year-old, who was previously mentioned in connection with the Blues earlier in the month, an offer it is claimed the League One club would find difficult to rebuff.

Stanley were previously reported to have turned down bids from Rotherham and Peterborough, while Preston have also been linked.

Jackson, who scored 16 goals in 48 starts and one sub appearance last season, previously played for Hurst, albeit briefly, at Grimsby during a loan spell in the first half of the 2016/17 season before the Town boss moved on to Shrewsbury in the October.

Bradford-born Jackson started his career with Swindon during which time he had spells on loan at Swindon Supermarine and Oxford City, before stints with Tamworth, Wrexham and Barnsley before his loan with Grimsby and his permanent switch to his current club last summer.

Stanley chairman Andy Holt has confirmed that the Tykes would receive a percentage of the fee they would receive should Jackson move on.

Jackson, who is 5ft 11in tall, is contracted until the summer of 2019 and can play in wide roles in addition to operating down the centre.

Speaking yesterday, Hurst admitted that the Blues would have to move quickly to recruit a replacement for Martyn Waghorn if, as seems likely, last season’s 16-goal top scorer departs before the window closes on August 9th.

Derby currently lead the likes of Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Birmingham and Nottingham Forest in the chase for the 28-year-old.

“I think we’d have to because what we can’t do is leave ourselves short and at the minute we feel we need players in anyway. If there was to be another departure, then clearly that adds to the need to get players in," he said.

The Blues boss also hinted that he may be looking at bringing in more frontmen in any case: “He hasn’t gone anywhere yet, so it may be that we’re trying to sign people anyway.”

If Jackson is a replacement for Waghorn, then once again we’re taking that gamble of replacing players by dipping into League 1 and 2. Edwards and Harrison look decent.... whether they can sustain that over 46 games is another thing. I’m all for going for up and coming lower league players if they have that potential to step up... but every gamble won’t come off.

If we get 5 to 8 million for Waghorn... you would like to think we could spend 3 million on a proven striker. Not sure about Jackson.... League 2 is obviously a step below League 1. Whereas Edwards and Harrison were proven League 1 players who look as if the natural step up for them is the Championship, it seems like a big ask for Jackson to step up two divisions to fill the boots of a proven Championship striker.

I’d like to think we would be more ambitious and spend the Waghorn cash on somebody else than a player who has only had one decent season in League 2. For example, spend 3-4 million on a striker who looks ready for that Championship move up rather than a 750k to 1 million rated player from League 2.

One under the radar .... centre back Janoi Donacien of Accrington. Looking likely.

Maybe not their striker after all.

Derby’s move to sign Blues striker Martyn Waghorn has been dealt a blow after Matej Vydra’s proposed £11 million switch from the Rams to Leeds United broke down.

Vydra was unable to agree personal terms at Elland Road, while the Czech international is also believed to have been less than keen to move to a club which finished below Derby in the Championship last season.

The Rams have been leading the chase for Waghorn’s signature having made an offer understood to be an initial £5 million rising to £8 million after clauses last week.

However, speaking on Saturday, Blues manager Paul Hurst said neither they nor any of the other interested parties have yet met Town’s valuation on last season’s 16-goal top scorer, who was training with the rest of the squad at Playford Road this morning.

Derby’s move for Waghorn had been understood to be dependent on the Rams offloading Vydra as they are under pressure to stay within Financial Fair Play limits.

In addition to Derby, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Birmingham are also interested in Waghorn, who joined the Blues for £250,000 from Rangers last August, while Nottingham Forest have also been linked.

Boro may be in an improved position to join the Rams and Blades in making a bid for Waghorn with Patrick Bamford now closing in on a £7 million move from Teesside to Leeds.

Meanwhile, it’s reported that Town are close to signing Accrington Stanley striker Kayden Jackson in addition to his defensive team-mate Janoi Donacien.

However, Accrington are yet to accept an offer for Jackson, 24, who was training with the League One club this morning, although it is expected he will move on before the transfer window closes on August 9th.

Town have been linked with the former Barnsley man on a number of occasions in recent weeks and certainly appear to be targeting the Bradford-born frontman even if a deal is yet to be agreed.

Would accept an 8 million sale for Waghorn. Don't hold out for much higher, and he won't be going on the cheap. Why the need to sell one of our star assets is something of a mystery (we're better off retaining the player) but if he sincerely wishes to go elsewhere than so be it. Bamford as mentioned, is a good player and someone that would be worth a gamble on but realize we're unlikely to bring him in / (or as) replacement for the on-off Waghorn transfer issue.

Well it's nearer for him, I'll allow him that. Leeds have got a number of issues that need addressing at present time, maybe Bamford hasn't given proper consideration to this potential move but he'll be looking towards a club with ambition / real opportunity of being involved again at EPL level. The Elland club doesn't quite fit that criteria.

One last time I look at our own attacking options and say for arguments sake Waghorn does up and leave, who's going to get the goals for the team to mount a promotion push. Well that's what I'm hoping for, hard to envisage another season of mid-league jousting and settlement on fourteenth position or wherever it finds us. Some of the forward names have departed, there's a few kids coming through if correct but not sure if they're ready for the first time as of yet. Best guess, Waghorn decides to stay on for the immediate future, find another attacker who is also reliable / can match the Murphy feat of a couple of seasons back. Games are won through strikers, it's arguably essential we enter a new season with a reliable pairing / someone who can contribute to regular effect.

Can’t help think getting both Tilt and Jackson in, is dependant on getting the Waghorn money.

With Waghorns Derby move breaking down this seems as if it’s holding up things.

Sorry Waggy, much as I like you ... bugger of to Boro ASAP so we can bring in some players who want to play for us.

I would have thought the Webster money was sufficient, but how much have we actually got of that? A lot of it is tied up in instalments ie amount of games played. Don’t Pompey get a cut too?

Sounds like the Tilt business seems to be haggling over the last 100k or 200k. We really need to get this done soon or we could lose out.

With the season about to start I would guess that’s the time when the bluffing and haggling stops and the cheque books come out.

We got 3.5 up front for Webster and have spent less than half of that, no excuse not to get Tilt deal sewn up, if we haven't already.

I agree, id be very annoyed if we lost out over £100-200k on someone Hurst feels would do a job. Up to now I like the business we have been doing, I think ME needs to allow Hurst to spend the money hes bringing in without causing any unnecessary hardball. I get that we want to get the best deals, but equally missing out over a few grand seems a bit stupid.

Im sure it will get done, and for all we know it could be announced anytime

It’s been reported that Tilt has just handed in a transfer request. Not sure what effect that has but it might get things moving.

It’s also in Blackpool’s interest to get the transfer completed, so they can get a replacement.

Where does it say he doesn’t want to come? Correct link?

Edit: ignore above - misread with your use of double negatives. :)

I wonder if the Nsiala link is a smokescreen to get Blackpool moving on this deal

Stop f**king around and get this done !!!
Town are reported to upped their bid for Blackpool central defender Curtis Tilt to £700,000.

According to Sky Sports, the Tangerines are yet to accept the offer for the 26-year-old, who is understood to have handed in a transfer request.

The Blues previous two bids for Tilt had seen them reach £550,000 with the two sides having been involved in a stand-off for most of the month, Blackpool having put a £1 million price tag on their player's head.

Talks are understood to have taken place last week and Blues boss Paul Hurst was evidently pleased to learn that Tilt hadn’t played for the Seasiders in their friendly against Crewe Alexandra after Town’s game against West Ham, hinting that it might signify good news.

However, the deal was still to be done and it appears Town have now increased their offer as they look to secure the Walsall-born defender ahead of the weekend opener against Blackburn Rovers at Portman Road.

Tilt played in non-league for Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, AFC Telford Town, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers (loan) before joining Blackpool last summer.

He made 45 starts for the League One side in 2017/18, his first EFL campaign, scoring once and picking up three Seasiders’ player of the season gongs.

Rangers, Reading, QPR and Portsmouth have all also been linked with Tilt this summer.

This is getting frustrating. It’s obvious we want him and the player wants to come here. I understand Town and Blackpool enter negotiations and try and get the best deal, but there comes a point where realism comes into it and you have to meet in the middle. It’s best for both teams to settle this now so we can move on and prepare for the coming season.

Just how much satisfaction would we get for getting Tilt a 100k cheaper? How much satisfaction would Blackpool get for not baulking on the price and the deal collapses, leaving a pissed off player with 1 year left on his contract.

Hopefully, common sense prevails and this gets pushed over the line today. Can’t help feel Woolfy will be partnering Chambers in defence on Saturday whatever the outcome as this is dragging on.
