Re: January Transfer rumours
Not sure it was ever an option once Collins arrived. Lambert is not going to drop chambers.

Re: January Transfer rumours
Well as Carter Vickers is now getting regular games at Swansea due to an injured CB, so Chambers has to play until something else comes up

Re: January Transfer rumours
Drop Chambers play Pennington at centre back with Emmanuel at right back. Why not, it's same every season we accomadate Chambers because he is captain and a nice bloke allegedly. Trouble is he is not a very good player.ashfordblue wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 1:43 pmWell as Carter Vickers is now getting regular games at Swansea due to an injured CB, so Chambers has to play until something else comes up

Re: January Transfer rumours
Think your being a bit harsh on chambers. It's not like he's been at fault for goal after goal this season. In fact if day Pennington has been caught out more then he has (I do quite like Pennington though). Just feels like your looking for any way in which we can get chambers out the team regardless of performances. If we had a better CB that didn't involve changing 2 or 3 players or positions I would probably agree with you. For the moment I would continue to play him, moving in to next season is a completely different discussion however.derick_ipsw wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 5:29 pmDrop Chambers play Pennington at centre back with Emmanuel at right back. Re: January Transfer rumours
I saw Danny Rowe scored 2 goals last night for Lincoln. I know it's league 2 but I can't help thinking he may have been ok for us in the short term. Is he any worse than Dawkins, Sears etc in those positions? I've not seen a huge amount of him but from what I have I felt he wasn't too bad. Could be a decent option next year for us in league 1 maybe.

Agree with you on Chambers and Rowe, one has had an ok season and the other not given a chance. I guess there must be something PL is not seeing in training.

Re: January Transfer rumours
I just get the impression he is bullet proof. And has more to do with the way he conducts himself around the club as opposed to performances on the pitch. I can think of 5 or 6 goals this season where he has been directly responsible. Bart made mistakes he was dropped so was Gerkin and Spence. But he never does. Pennington is better Centre half so its a easy decision for me. Regarding Rowe, poor lad never given a chance.charlton837 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 8:07 amThink your being a bit harsh on chambers. Re: January Transfer rumours
Fair enough. I certainly can't think of 4 or 5 goals where I would say he made clear errors but I'm also not arguing he's been great this season either. I do think Pennington is OK but I don't think he's brilliant, he's been caught the wrong side a few times and looks a bit out of control at times. He has an error in him too like against Milwall. I take the point about chambers being in there because of how he is off the pitch, I think your probably right there but I think that's more a case of us as a club not having the right leadership, we've allowed a situation whereby Chambers is the glue sticking that squad together. That does need rectifying as he won't be here forever. I have a feeling this may well chambers last season here unless he decides to stay on as a player/coach or something.

I think Chambers will be a pivotal player and ever present next season, he should excel in League One. I agree with the coaching route though, I feel he is destined for that and probably with us.

Re: January Transfer rumours
Chambers has a far bigger role at this Club then just playing centre back. Which is why Lambert still wants him here. I agree with that too. Chambers won’t continue to play 1st team for too much longer, and it always a problem when an influential player reaches that stage in his ca4eer , when his playing days are all but over, but to drop him would be detrimental to the team just now.
I personally wouldn’t mind seeIng either of these 3 man CB combinations.
......Pennington..... Collins......Chalobah
...Chambers........Collins........Chalobah...

You won't see eirher of those combinations as PL doesn't like a back 3

Re: January Transfer rumours
I know he doesn’t but I think it’s vr quite effective . Even Knudsen managed to play half decent in A back three !!

Re: January Transfer rumours
I'd say Knudsen was more than half decent in that role. He was very good.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 6:11 pmI know he doesn’t but I think it’s vr quite effective . Even Knudsen managed to play half decent in A back three !!

Re: January Transfer rumours
Sort of speaks volumes here. A striker many thought would be decent is on his way to League Two as ITFC stare at League One. Fuckin nightmare.

Re: January Transfer rumours
Harrison is the One Hurst signing we should not be letting go.
Pinto would be a decent addition but can't see that happening.

Re: January Transfer rumours
James Bree from villa now being touted as a loan signing. We would have 6 loans then I think, with only 5 allowed in match day squad?

Re: January Transfer rumours
..... but we could see three new Sheff Wed players make their debuts tomorrow if Steve Bruce decides to play them. Dominic Llorfa will probably recognise more Town players than Owls, that could be helpful.
