I’m not sure Celina fits the mold of the type of player Ashton & KM are looking for anymore. Celina clearly chose Stoke over ITFC, and in my opinion that doesn’t show a dedication to the ITFC ethos of players who want to be here. He’s not that good anyway.

Suspect if we can’t find a better alternative number 10 option then we’ll grab him on loan again, but suspect it could go right to deadline day.
We’ve actually not been linked with any number 10’s yet which does surprise me a little. I know the club are a lot better at keeping the noise away now though.

Just seen weve signed Pompey's Harness with Pigott going to them on loan. If im honest cant recall hearing his name before and feels like weve just been lumbered with their old crap, does not fill me with any confidence whatsoever.
Please somebody correct me and tell me is awesome and a real talent, a 25 goals this season type of guy.
I will apologise now if im wrong (which would not be the first nor last) lol.

I seem to recall him being quite lively, certainly a lot more than I saw of Pigott. Therefore I would imagine he fits into Ipswich's plan pretty well.Dazzz67 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 11:46 pmJust seen weve signed Pompey's Harness with Pigott going to them on loan. I read that he is versatile, and that could be exciting when you consider Keiran said he was not so much of a "formations" man. Having a number of key players who can switch roles and positions in a game with little issue could really bamboozle opposition teams.
31 goals in 3 years at Portsmouth is reasonable I guess, but you never really know what to expect, afterall many would have had Pigott as our top goal scorer last season at the time he signed for us!

Until we learn to cross a ball or take a decent corner, any striker will struggle. I think it’s the okie but missing really. Build up play is great, the final ball just isn’t there.

It’s a thought provoking move really, because I know like most on here, Piggott didn’t cover himself in glory last season. But it was a difficult time for him personally, and he had trouble settling. Was one season really enough to judge him? Prior to joining us he was scoring goals for fun (more than his replacement), in a poor team, so I’m in two minds as to whether this is a good move allowing him to go to a promotion rival in this division. What was it he scored in the season before signing for us , 26 goals?
Just had a look at his wiki page, and he scored 47 goals in 137 appearances, which is a 2.91 ratio per game. I’d say that’s pretty good , and we’ve let him go to Pompey for nothing and taken a player of theirs whose hardly goal prolific . Not sure this is a good move in all honesty.
Edit . I’ve just looked at Harness stats and he’s scored 23 goals in 111 appearances from 2019-22, which makes his goals ratios significantly better than Piggott. I also read he scored 10 goals from midfield last season, which is good.
So maybe they do know what they’re doing lol!!

It's seems to me we are signing players with Division 1 experience which hopefully will get us out of this league and I have no problem with that but Ball who has Championship experience signed a two year deal without an option I believe yet I know two of the other players have signed three year contracts but in KMc we trust.

I think versatility is the key here. Pigott seems more of a one trick pony, who maybe doesn't quite fit the system we play!hallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 7:37 amAzzurroMark wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 12:50 amI seem to recall him being quite lively, certainly a lot more than I saw of Pigott. Very pleased with this latest signing, a versatile player 8n his prime, scored 11 goals last season with 6 assists, not sure what people want, im sure he played against us at their place and looked quite a handful, early days but would much rather have him than the misfiring Donkey we let go the other way.

So if Harness has played most of his games in the right wing , where does this leave Burns? Soon to be leaving ?( I hope not)

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Think I was being a little hasty, it was a long day and maybe the heat got to me lol.
Think it's because we got him from Pompey/Cowley that stirred me, want us to give them a good shoeing when we play them next lol.
He does sound ok and has a decent score rate, think what Andym says about getting decent crosses in is key, just wonder if we need one more signing to complete the package. I was thinking a rhs player to compete for Burns place, or do you think we have adequate cover?

I would say it leaves Burns having to constantly look over his shoulder which just might be a good thing - he'll have to work on his deliveryof the ball and consistency if he wants to be a regular in the team.hallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 9:45 amSo if Harness has played most of his games in the right wing , where does this leave Burns? Listen to his interview, he plays centrally and only plays wide if he is made to.
He seems pretty motivated and feels in our system he can do much better numbers as it suits his play.
I personally feel well maybe see a striker and left wing back and that’s us done other than some departures.

That's how I see it. He's not a LWB and I just wondered if his signing is an end to interest in Celina - but Andy Warren seems to think we're still after him. Think we're still in hunt for LWB ( Penney to leave?) and I'd say a marque signing striker is still needed, ( Hirst?).shabba wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 10:26 amListen to his interview, he plays centrally and only plays wide if he is made to.

Did I read correctly that Harness scored 12 last season with 7 assists? Thats better than Celina's. I know some are desperate for Celina to return - but I think we'd get more bang for our buck elsewhere.... and maybe that's Harness. Save the cash for a proper striker and LWB.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
If we do get Celina back if he chooses the EFL we are the only ones who can sign him due to his work permit registered with us, I would like to see him back here and if we have a better class squad than last season it will benefit Celina's game, as sometimes our past forwards couldn't read his passing game, and made him look poor, he will definitely improve our team if it's stronger than last seasons, but if he decides to go to Europe to play you can't blame him as its a very short career and one needs to make as much money as possible.

I for one don't want Celina back. I wish him well (and will miss the Celina song, which was fun), but we don't need him to play 1 good game in 5. Lets move on via Harness or others, I don't care but Celina is not the messiah many suggest... far from it.

Could not agree more with you Ash. Especially the part highlighted. Common knowledge up here in Scotland is that the standard is lower than down south, (no sh!t, really?

NO....., the rest of your team is sh*t.
So as you said......., if KMcK puts together a better class of team..... (not a 10th in L1 team)......, a championship bound team, ---- >> Bersant Celina will be just the tonic required.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
It was Celina and his poor defensive displays that were often the issue, leaving the full back exposed etc, going forward he was ok at times but very lazy others, glad he's unlikely to return here.

Common knowledge up here in Scotland is that the standard is lower than down south, (no sh!t, really?) ...., and when teams have players on loan, those players play with useless fkrs that haven't had a decent pass threaded in their lives. When Nydam is at St Johnstone or Nbada is at Ayr, they were playing with clueless fkrs. Especially Nydam. Way too good for StJ but the average fat b*stard pie eating Perth tw@t thought his passes were poor & loose.

"It's not me, Gaffer.... its those shitty strikers that can't read my passes".
We can't afford to buy a whole new team of players that makes Celina look good. And making Celina look good isn't our top priority - we just need to get out of the league.
And if Celina really wanted to be here - he would be already. He could have taken our deal. We wouldn't be relying on a weird work permit loophole to pave the way. He'd be at Stoke already holding up the shirt and proclaiming how happy he is to be there.

That's right, Tang. I alluded to a similar thought in a previous post. I really don't think Celina is committed to ITFC at all. I still think he gets too much credit...he scores a great goal every now and then, but his overall game is poor.Tangfastic wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:03 amAnd if Celina really wanted to be here - he would be already. Agree with Wilf, Tang & No9, he really isnt the messiah he's portrayed to be, in fact sometimes a total liability, I haven't ever really raved about him and as Tang said, moulding a team just to fit him in for his six good performances this season isn't going to happen, much happier with Marcus Harness who by all accounts among the Pompey fans cost us 600k.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I don’t know if we will actually be getting this marquee striker signing b4 start of the season , but what strikes me is McKenna has brought in players that all over the pitch now, are able to stick the ball in the net.
If we have say four players in the side that are capable of getting (10?) goals, why do we even need a 20goal a season striker . It’s harder surely to mark an outfield player (or players) out of the game, are a goal threat than a single striker.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
We’ll agree to disagree. I just believe when you have a player who is so glaringly obviously better than the rest, he’ll stick out in both a positive & negative way. More so negative in a sh*te team.
So you’re all perhaps correct. Arguably going to be a predominately sh*te team (in terms of champ class) ——>> maybe best to offload.
As a fan, it’d certainly get on my tits reading Bersant being slated every week. Fk that sh*t.

think the answer Hallam is versatilty lol. Think we need as many people who are capable of scoring in case of injuries or formation changes, players all over the field who can score when given a chance.
One thing I have been thinking about is do we have any real set piece takers?

It certainly helps a teams promotion chances if they have one of the top goal scorers eg, In League One the top two goal scorers last season were at Wigan and Sunderland and both teams got promoted. In the Championship the top two goal scorers were at Fulham and Bournemouth and both teams got promoted. This may not always be the case but it certainly helps and probably boosts confidence.

But what would be interesting is how many goals other players in those teams scored. Because it wouldn’t surprise me if they had 2-3 other player close to double figures too.
