Re: FA Cup first round draw
Anything less than 0-3 would surely be a moral victory for Bracknell.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
lol, our whole defending game is poor but we will get through it AM, its nice to see the odd FA cup upset but not with us please.
Going for a 1 - 5 win to us, they will grab one (only fair) but we will bang them in and get our groove back, if we can grab 4 against Charlton it could get higher.

I'm expecting the forum to go into meltdown if Bracknell have the cheek to win a corner.

I will only start to worry when we go 2 goals up. Talking of which, I see Bracknell were 2-0 down in their FA Trophy tie last weekend and came back to win 3-2. Obviously practicing for us.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
Lost interest in this competition a long time ago, for people of a certain age it's just not the same as once before, add to that our record in the past 30 years is just about garbage, however once again this tie does hold a certain intrigue.
If it had been switched to Portman Road you'd be looking at a straight forward win but with a game at their (wherever they play at) it does hold the remote possibility of an upset. They've got a chance with this, but it's slim and minimal nothing more.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
Hopefully this is a good chance to rest some of those who have played a lot recently and give minutes to those needing match fitness.
I’d go with…
Hladky
Keogh
BUrges
Adheje (the youngster who played vs Cambridge)
Edwards
!? (Anyone but Davies at left back, he needs a rest!)
Humpreys
Ball (swap for Camara during match)
Chiwera
Harness
Ladapo (more suited to this game than Jackson)
Tricky now as due to injuries we cannot easily rotate all 11 without dipping into the youth team.

Mmmmm, I thought tennis players sat down and had a rest after every 2 games ?
But hey Marko what a great subject to debate, I think you need to start a new thread mate.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
He’s just played a lot of 90mins recently and is in one of the most tiring positions, he looked tired at the end of the Charlton game and I’d worry about injuries as we have no cover for no, so i would take the Chance to rest him.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
Na, I'll beg to differ on this notion. Back in the day you had guys like Mills, Burley, Hunter all playing a full season, on heavy pitches and clearing medicine balls out of defence and no doubt having a smoke at HT, ......., only one or two substitutions allowed. Just more "modern game" BS imo. Not saying the game hasn't changed ----- >> it most definitely has, but the fitness levels have changed also.
Leif......, get your arse on the pitch against Bracknell and be part of a team potentially stopping wave after wave after tsunami of Bracknell attacks.
Jeez , hope thats not true.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
Just taken a look at Plymouth’s line up and expected to see a second string team, but lo and behold 9 of the team have been regular staters recently including 7 who started midweek.
Maybe it’s one of those lack of mental preparation situations which can easily happen when you player lesser opposition.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
Thats actually quite unbelievable. Sort of puts me onboard with you guys who reckon Argyle will fall away.
No excuse for that result today.

Maybe they opted not to have a cup run, and to focus on the league ? Players have thrown games before haven’t they.

You think? You think they’d make it so obvious with a 5-1 scoreline?hallamblue wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 10:47 pmMaybe they opted not to have a cup run, and to focus on the league ? Players have thrown games before haven’t they.
If they threw the game……. They certainly properly chucked it !

Or maybe without Azaz's injury, they would have won 3-0???

Re: FA Cup first round draw
That may well be the case, (Whittaker aside; he is a decent player both in terms of goals & assists)……., but even if they’re THAT poor to be humped 5-1 by L2 Grimsby, sort of puts a pressure on Ipswich ——>> if theyre genuinely a lot poorer than their position —->> Thats the level …. Over to Town to win the league basically, which i know you’ve punted all along.
Got a buddy, (who has a buddy) who’s next door neighbours bla bla bla, is a Wednesday supporter. He says they are the “Hibs” of England. When there is expectation, they buckle. If Bannan gets injured, theyre screwed. Something to ponder.
In summary…….., if plymouth are poor & Wednesday are Hibs, and Pompey are just sh*te…… ipswich Town 22/23 league one champions.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
Sheffield Wednesday fans are saying exactly that on their forum Marko, they are not overly confident and have reservations about Moore, but also feel that should they lose Bannen they will struggle.
Regarding Plymouth, they are decent for sure, you don't win nine at home on the bounce for nothing and in Whittaker they have a super player in my view, I just don't see them as anything incredible that will last the distance, play offs yes, auto's nope.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
I would prefer we get one of the bigger teams to play next round (thats if we get though lol), or one of or LG1 rivals as in Sheff weds or Posh, think they would provide a good game as always wary of getting a lower ranked side, they really step it up as nothing to lose.
I am really looking forward to the 2nd round draw later today, be nice to see Chippenham, Alvechurch and Grimsby get a reward for their hard work on Saturday.

Re: FA Cup first round draw
I wonder if Bracknell are playing well out there and holding to us a no-score right now because they realize if they win today, they got a real good chance of making Round Three with that draw presented.
The door's open to the January rounds for us though, it's got to be said.

Re: FA Cup first / second round draw
Looks like the game will be sat 26th November. I’d imagine it won’t be on tv as it’s a home game and there are probably smaller clubs playing at home to league one opposition?
Wonder when the tickets will go on sale. Think I will try and get to this one as the next two home games don’t have any good seats left (which is great in its own right).
