Martin Simpson & Andy Cutting at Wingfield Barns. I counted up. I have 21 Martin Simpson albums. Such a great guitarist.

Kelly Joe Phelps, just heard he died yesterday or today aged 62. Not sure his you describe him, folk-blues guitarist maybe.

Jorma Kaukonen, “Quah” from I think 1976. Guitarist with Jefferson Airplane, he made this acoustic masterpiece when they first split. Folky, almost ragtime, bluesy guitar.
Had a great afternoon at the footy, caught up with my eldest son and husband and the Greyhound, and also a lad I used to teach and his parents - known the family for years.
Home, cooked a prawn stir fry, eating outside while this music provides a relaxed but beautiful background. A relatively unknown gem. I remember it being released but never heard it until I picked it up on cd last year.

Re: What are you listening to?
I am listening to the Killers (Hot Fuss), had tickets for their concert in Amsterdam....but they changed the concert date. Couldn't make the new date, still enjoyed 2 nights in Amsterdam with friends though

Re: What are you listening to?
I saw the Killers about 8-9 years ago in Amsterdam. The Ziggodome, I think. Good gig. Haven't heard much of the The Killers lately, though. Hot Fuss is a bit of a classic early noughties albums. I wouldn't say the Killers are that dated - but there's still loads of older bands still touring. Must be because modern music is absolutely sh*te.

It’s more because there’s no money in recorded music any more. The only way to make money as a musician Is to play live.Tangfastic wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 1:09 pmthere's still loads of older bands still touring. Must be because modern music is absolutely sh*te.

Very good. I picked up their 3EPs and new album too. I’m a big fan of Martin Simpson, amazing guitarist. Never seen him play electric before though.

They're American, a three-piece indie band from Hoboken, New Jersey. They've been making studio albums since '96. I first came across them in '01 and they've slowly sort of crept into my brain since then so I now have a fair stash of their albums.

9 minutes……… might be too long for some. But if you get to around 1:30, it’ll grip your attention.
Really is very original in my opinion. Loved it. Nice message as well.

Great stuff. Bought it on vinyl many years ago, got a CD copy too. The first 2 Jeff Beck albums with Rod Stewart on vocals were brilliant at the time.Mauswara wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 11:07 amI gave this a spin today. Been a while.

Aye, not a Rod fan, too much coke and pink pants for my taste, but I do like him on those early Jeff Beck albums.Andym wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:18 pmGreat stuff.
