Like you say marko, there are others in that team on that right side that are not doing their job, and Clarke looks the guilty party when trying to cover …. I thought it was noticeable v QPR that Omari was right back with Williams defending the space between the 18 yard area and the touch line - you rarely see Burns doing that!marko69 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 7:54 pmIf Ipswich can find a BETTER player than Clarke in that position in this window --->> then that would be incredible. Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Exactly that Marko, a lot of the criticism is unfounded, Williams last night was twice as bad against a sh*t side, not Leicester or Leeds, Clarke was singled out big time which seemed acceptable and yet when I called Williams out it was deemed unnecessary.marko69 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 7:54 pmIf Ipswich can find a BETTER player than Clarke in that position in this window --->> then that would be incredible. Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Williams wasn't good at all, that weird effort turning round three times and losing the ball rather than passing it on was odd. I think Clarke is still struggling a bit for fitness and KMc would prefer to rotate him a bit but Williams has been hooked for Clarke at half-time twice recently now.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Something has drastically changed in Williams. Have no idea what had caused this but he’s nowhere near the player he was when he first came here. It’s not injury. So had to be either attitude or off field issues. Either way I wonder if he’ll be heading back to Man Utd soon?

Yes, it’s strange regarding BW. I believe he is basically a decent player, as his early performances suggest. In truth, we simply don’t know what has/is going on which has impacted adversely his more recent outings. If it’s fundamentally down to character, and ‘I’m from a bigger club than you’ attitude, then perhaps the due diligence radar was having an off day!
Whatever, would be happy to return him to sender - perhaps doing a swap for young Diallo, who came on as a Man U sub yesterday.

Nixon saying we are looking at Wigans Charlie Hughes, he's a centre back with 42 games played and 6 goals and 20 years old but on a long contract.
And here is another Charlie Cresswell Leads centre back young and played 28 Championship games on loan at Millwall last season and again on a long contract.

Very true Liz, as they say, one bad apple in the barrel, so get rid back to Man U if he's a problem, bring in Donacien or Clarke at RBhallamblue wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 10:07 amSomething has drastically changed in Williams. Exactly Marco he does but Clarke should stick at the RWB position and not leave acres of space on his flank, against Leeds and Leicester it resulted in goals, you must keep your shape all the game.marko69 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 7:54 pmIf Ipswich can find a BETTER player than Clarke in that position in this window --->> then that would be incredible. Also if we have a mass sickness bug within the squad then perhaps we should cancel the Stoke game to save spreading it around to other teams I'm sure the Football League would understand, we can't afford to have 5 or 6 players out with it, so just cancel until it's cleared up.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
You can keep your shape while allowing a player to venture forward. But the venturing forward player is relying on others being able to adjust slightly.ashfordblue wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 6:46 pmExactly Marco he does but Clarke should stick at the RWB position and not leave acres of space on his flank, against Leeds and Leicester it resulted in goals, you must keep your shape all the game.marko69 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 7:54 pmIf Ipswich can find a BETTER player than Clarke in that position in this window --->> then that would be incredible. Its a pet hate of mine. An example at Hibs would be Lewis Stevenson venturing forward,(very good crosser of the ball) but (latterly) Hanlon too slow to cover on a potential reverse counter.
I suppose it is all about the 90 minutes. All players need to be switched on.

I see Celtic are reported to have Vaclav Hladky on their radar for the January transfer window which isn’t good news given he’s out of contract at the end of the season. Hopefully McKenna will have already talked to him about a new contract offer to keep him at Portman Road.

His agent said the priority is to get promoted with town and a new contract. I suspevt he will hold off and make a decision closer to the summer when he knows what league we will be in.Charnwood wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 9:45 amI see Celtic are reported to have Vaclav Hladky on their radar for the January transfer window which isn’t good news given he’s out of contract at the end of the season. Brighton Winger Sarmiento Set For Town Loan
Tuesday, 2nd Jan 2024 10:26
Brighton winger Jeremy Sarmiento is set to join the Blues on loan having been recalled from a loan spell at West Brom, according to a report in Ecuador.
Sarmiento, 21, joined the Seagulls from Benfica in 2021 and has made five senior starts and 14 sub appearances for the Premier League club.
The 13-times-capped Ecuador international, who can play in wide roles or as a number 10, joined the Baggies on loan in July having signed a new contract with his parent club which runs to the summer of 2027.
First one but a winger or number 10.

Seems a strange one. I can only assume that we are looking for competition for Hutchinson who is very hot and cold, and Broadhead. The one concern for me about this loan is he wasn’t getting much playing time at West Brom and the reason why.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 11:41 amBrighton winger on loan :

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Does seem odd, especially as it looks another Dane Scarlett type move?
As said above, he hasn't exactly been playing for WBA so seems strange that we would want him.
We could use some extra firepower and maybe upgrades on Jackson etc but not sure if this guy is better than Omari, Broadhead, Burns etc.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
As they say, suck it and see, if he plays for his country Ecuador 13 times he can't be that bad can he?? if Kieran likes him that's okay, also we have the option of another year's loan if he plays well.
Also, Brighton are keeping close tabs on Keiran as a future manager so maybe this is a sweetener and we might just see other Brighton players emerge, Brighton will be interested to see how Sarmiento develops under McKenna Training

I'm pretty sure I saw him playing for West Brom and if it's the player I think he looked very good and was taking players on and beating them.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
If we are going to go down the loan route then I feel we need to bring in players who are going to make a significant difference now. I’m not sure this lad will. I might be in the minority here but I don’t feel that the 2 loan players we have brought in so far this season have been a great success. Yes, Williams and Hutchinson have put in the occasional performance where you think they could make a difference but they have just not been consistent enough.
We certainly need to get it right this window if that is the way we decide to go.

Well if the lad does join us hopefully he can make a immediate difference as it is a very short loan period. As I said before it would be interesting to know the reason behind his lack of appearances for West Brom and whether this was down to form or injury.

Why so many questioning KM and MA's judgement? If they want him - great - welcome him in and see what he can do. As Mike says, he had prem experience and also an international so who are we to judge? If it happens - excellent and good luck to him!

Lots of fairly negative comments on other fan sites; clearly thinking they know better than KM/MA, who place great store in conducting in depth, pre signing, due diligence. I trust their judgement, particularly when attempting to improve in depth squad quality. This lad ticks that box.
Hold off judgement until all transfer activity - in and out- has been completed, and all the moving parts are in place. No doubt this lad’s arrival is part of a wider plan to give us the best possible chance of getting promoted: the Owners’ Mission Statement,

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
I'm still optimistic that Fulham will recall Jay Stansfield from Brum now that Rooney has gone, and Stansfield will get better game time with us and every chance of a possible promotion to the Premiership, as for a good young CB O'Riordan of Crewe Alex could be a good buy at around £500'000, Crewe know how to turn out quality young players

A thought: will Rooney’s sacking today make Jay Stansfield more likely to be landed by Town or not? Settled environment and all that !

Amazed the old firm up here didn't take him when he was in Scotland first time. If Celtic offer him a contract he will sign it, no doubt in my mind on that.Charnwood wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 9:45 amI see Celtic are reported to have Vaclav Hladky on their radar for the January transfer window which isn’t good news given he’s out of contract at the end of the season.
