Word
(Must admit, I do like the "word" statement to say "strongly agree"........., thanks to ex member, Number 9 for that.)

One of those "to the point" and decent modern day quips, Cabanas. A bit like "it is what it is" ......, the difference being we can just say "word"......, we do not have to construct a sentence for the sole purpose of squeezing in a "it is what it is" quote. Modern day "English". It is what it is I suppose. We are where we are. Jaysus fkn H. I've pi$$ed myself off with that.Cabanas Blue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 1:48 pmI've been wondering what that meantbut didn't like to ask my excuse is I'm just an old codger

With Tottenham’s Joe Rodon no longer available our race to sign Jacob Greaves from Hull takes a higher profile. I’m not sure who else we have on our radar but there must be other CB targets that haven’t surfaced yet.

They mean business for sure this summer.
Even if we go down, hopefully we'd have a very strong championship side.

I know I’m in the minority with my opinion but still think these fees are crazy. Even with these players Hull didn’t make the playoffs last season. Just hope that if we do end up paying this sort of money then things don’t go tits up next season.

Its VERY difficult to say really, they could be total flops, but then you can look at Adam Wharton, playing in a struggling Blackburn side - goes to Palace for what seemed a steep 18m, 6 months later he is in the England squad and linked with champions league clubs -mental.Shed on tour wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:55 amI know I’m in the minority with my opinion but still think these fees are crazy. In that minority myself. And with the first three fixtures as they are, got to hope the collective 20M quid heads don't all go down at once.Shed on tour wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:55 amI know I’m in the minority with my opinion but still think these fees are crazy. Would like to see Town sign some experienced pros from Premiership or similar level who have been over the course.
I remember when i was watching Ipswich in the 92-93 season, the first year of Premiership they signed Williams, Whitton and Goddard with Wark playing beside Linighan. All the way through the spine of the side with old heads that were still young enough not to be over the hill.
Its ok to go for top level Championship players with lots of potential and within budget but not too many.

£1m!!
Ashton has done very well there if that is true! Of course he could go on to do well, but 1m at that level is a good fee.

I'll leave the recruitment of players to the numerous people employed by the club.
Its just a general observation.
Ross Barkley type that Luton got springs to mind. Been over the course a bit and had something to prove. That type of player. They don't have to be English either !

That does read as though it's more genuine than originally perceivedCabanas Blue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 1:48 pmhttps://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/587505/%EF ... rently/#12
Looks a bit more promising.

Blues Eyeing Benin International Striker Mounié
Town are reported to be eyeing a move for free agent Benin international striker Steve Mounié. Wed Jul 3rd 14:14 2
Another rumour but at 29 years I don't believe this.

He has been playing top level for a number of years.
Not saying he is a good or bad signing if there is anything in it at all but I suspect this is the type of player that McKenna will be adding along with top level Championship players
