Greaves medical today I’m hearing #itfc #ITK

Just seen on Hull forum there is speculation Greaves having his medical today - anyone posted at the Nuffield ? #itfc

This was going round WhatsApp etc this morning. Seems either from searching Greaves and itfc it’s snowballed today, or it was elsewhere and got onto Twitter. Delap signing is really exciting and another signing we’ve chased over multiple windows.

I think one thing that’s really good is that those chancing it, are showing the leaks at the club are not getting worse I guess. National scrutiny means we can’t stop outside speculation, and with it the def info sometimes catching us out, but it feels like we continue with a joined up approach.

Can’t help thinking this will be permanent rather than a loan given City want him off the books don’t they?

Taken from TWTD probably rubbish.

Reporter David Ornstein tweeted 20 minutes ago that Greaves was granted permission to have medical which he is undertaking.

Greaves yes please but looking at Delap's scoring record it's not good I know he's only 21 but 12 goals in 68 games in the Championship is not good I just hope it's only a loan as Man City were talking a lot of money not long ago.

Just had a text from my friend who lives in Manchester and her grandson a staunch Man City fan told her that we are signing Liam Delap…. So who knows . But if we pull off all these signings what a statement that will be! All the players are early 20’s and quick!

Yes, Hutchinson, Johnson, Greaves, Philogene & Delap would represent very astute business with probably at least Three more needed with a keeper essential.

We also have a few very likely to leave, Ladapo, Walton,
Harness, Edmundson and Donacien most likely, I believe Donacien has already been released but training with us.

Can also see Humphreys & Baggott heading out on loan along with Slicker.

I think we’ll get four if the five mentioned with Philogene being the most doubtful although if Greaves and Delap sign he may well choose to come with them. All I can say is Hull City fans must be gutted especially with Fabio Carvalho also returning to Liverpool after his amazing loan spell scoring 9 goals in 20 appearances.

All I would say CB regarding Delap's scoring record is think George Hirst, his was awful.

I’m pretty confident McKenna will have scrutinised Delap’s strengths and weaknesses and has every confidence he can develop significant improvement.

What sort of price is Delap going to be?

I’d guess in the 10 to 20m range? (Going by previous articles earlier in the summer).

10m is a lot but 20m would be way too much IMO.

I’ve just been looking at Hull City and the players they’re losing which must be devastating for the fans. Looking at players involved in their successful run in games last season, they’ve lost;

Carvalho - MF loanee returned to Liverpool
Ohio - CMF loanee returned to Standard Leige
Delap - CF loanee returned to Manchester City
Alsop - GK sold to Birmingham -undisclosed fee
Tufan - CF sold to Trabzonspor £2m
Sharp - CF Free transfer to Doncaster
Greaves - CB transfer possibly to Ipswich
Philogene - AMF transfer possibly to Everton or Ipswich or Palace

That’s the complete guts of their last seasons team ripped apart. ☹️😮🤔

Transfermarket estimate his value to be £8m so you can add at least 25% to that which makes him circa £10m but given his age at potential maybe £12m. This surely must be the max we should pay.

That said, they had Gassan Ahadme valued at 325k and we got £1m. Apply the same multiplier to Delap and it comes to £24m which really would be ridiculous.

Agree Mike, with Hirst Chaplin Broady and Omari are the ones to score the goals but will they be able to with the step up to the prem ? Chaplin scored half the goals with the step up to the Championship, that's why I would like a CF who can score a dozen or more in the Premier league and they would cost a fortune.
Ashley Barnes from up the road anyone? 🤔🤣🤣🤣

Ashley Barnes scored 1 goal less than George Hirst last season and played a lot more games, Hirst 7 goals from 26 appearances v Barnes 6 goals from 35 appearances.

Barnes will also be 35 no sooner than the season kicked off compared to Hirst age 25.

Barnes definitely not for me, no way CB.

Manchester City striker Liam Delap was at Town last week but as it stands is not close to a move to the Blues.

The 21-year-old was pictured arriving at Portman Road on Thursday with the photo doing the rounds on social media over the weekend.

However, we understand the former England U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 international has also visited other clubs as he assesses his options for the season ahead and at present talks regarding a switch to the Blues have not got under way, although evidently he is on the list of potential recruits.

Town are in the market for another central striker ahead of their return to the Premier League to compete with George Hirst.

Delap, son of former Stoke long throw expert Rory, was poached from Derby County’s youth set-up by City in 2019.

Since then, he has spent time on loan at Stoke, Preston and last season Hull City where he scored eight times in 26 starts and six sub appearances.

For his parent club, the 6ft 1in tall frontman, who is contracted to City until the summer of 2026, has made two sub appearances in the Premier League as well as four cup appearances, scoring three goals.

Delap is the third member of last season’s Tigers side to be mentioned in connection with the Blues this summer with Town having made a double bid for winger Jaden Philogene and central defender Jacob Greaves, who is understood to have undergone a medical at Town yesterday.

Meanwhile, Spanish reports are indicating that Las Palmas will face Town in a pre-season friendly at Portman Road on Saturday 10th August, however, we understand that game is yet to be confirmed and it is still possible the Blues could face different opposition that day.

I think our new keeper is the signing I'm keenest on learning of presently.

Have a feeling Walton will be staying, based solely on the fact that he's still here and Hladky has gone. Not sure we'll be bringing two new goalkeepers in.

Yep, keeper is definitely of most interest imo. Valclav Hladky doesn't leave unless he has been told, "We're looking for a new keeper." ....., so a keeper does arrive through the door before Seasons start, for sure.

Walton cannot go from L1 -->> the bench -->> Premier League....., SURELY?
