Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I have stated that if we offer say between 6 to 10 million max for Sammy the Owners of Blackburn will snatch our hand off, certainly not worth £20 million that's taking the p*ss he's good but not that good. I like that Sammy's a poacher; we need a fox in the box like Vardy. He's not that skillful but he's quick and knows where the back of the net is.
Spurs 23-year-old Oliver Skipp midfielder could be a very good loan and also defender Spence if he becomes available

To my knowledge Edmundson has always played L CB … we’ll see what happens.shabba wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 12:12 pmLB - Clarke can play there, Greaves can and so can Johnson, agree a backup LB is still a good idea though.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 11:59 amJust seen this. So we ARE in talks to secure him. I think we do need a MF like him although I was very impressed with Taylor in that pre season friendly I have to say.
I think we need another striker and I know I bang in about it, but a right side CB, and a more defensive minded LB. What players do we have that can cover these two positions?
LB: Davis, Baggot ( Morsy spoke very highly of him playing there)
Lt CB: Burgess, Greaves, Edmundson
Rt CB: Woolfie, Axel, ?
RB: Johnson, Clark, Axel
MF: Morsy, Taylor, Luongo, ?
#10’s. Chaplin, Omari, Harness,
Wingers: Burns, Broadhead (inj), Omari
Strikers: Hirst, Delap, ?, ?
Likely to move on Ladapo
Edmundson is Rt CB though I believe.
Personally I’d be really pleased if we get Schmodics ( spl) I’ve always liked him, and am also excited to see what Taylor will produce this season. Like Mike, I think he might well shine for us.

Yes, all looking very promising isn’t it
He’s still got 2yrs left of his contract which I presume we’ve got to pay off. OMG the money involved in these transfers is just mind blowing isn’t it ….

Rumoured that Blackburn have rejected our original bid. Think they might hold out to see if any other clubs show interest in him before letting him go.

Good luck to Ashton having to deal with the Venky’s. Can see this one dragging on if we pursue our interest.Bluemike wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 4:26 pmIt has been rejectedShed on tour wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 4:14 pmRumoured that Blackburn have rejected our original bid. Maybe we only offered 6 million, 10 might get them excited, I'd like us to get him.We are just testing the waters.

Yes, it was £6 million but I would put the ceiling limit at £10 max and go up in small stages say £500'000 and pan it out, also no buyback in the contract.

Read on the Blackburn site that the player wants the move to happen.

The owners are Indian aren't they? If do, I'll be a very, very hard deal to get over the line. They ard very tough negotiators

But who do you switch out? Because he's a very different type of forward to Hirst/Moore, so it would be a huge change to the way we play.ashfordblue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 1:06 pmI like that Sammy's a poacher; we need a fox in the box like Vardy.
For me, Szmodics might be a competitor for Chaplin's shirt, who struggled a little in the second half of last season it seemed. I think a chance to get Szmodics at a reasonable price would be hard to turn down, but why aren't other teams scrabbling over him, and it's still a big price for a 28 year, who will probably only drop in value over the next couple of years.

I could see him and Taylor fighting it out to partner Morsy....
Ricco I have asked myself the same question re competition for his signature and wonder if its a combination of players age, 2 yrs left on his contract and a likely protracted negotiation with a very tough Blackburn owner. I'm sure from memory they've got a chequered past in transfer dealings. Unless I'm mixing them up with Blackpool owners?

I think Leeds are looking at Sammy but they have a limit to what they would offer, we are in the Premiership and Sammie being a local boy will want to test his ability at the top, also if the Venky's try to hold Sammie back he could rebel and demand a move or not play.

Sam Gallagher remember how we tried to sign him from Blackburn, boy we were lucky, it will be difficult make another offer and walk away if they start messing us about.

We definitely need a midfielder stronger & more consistent than Taylor & Chaplin. I hope this doesn’t get drawn out too long. Make a final offer and if Blackburn don’t bite, move on.

I think people are gonna be surprised by Chaplin to be honest, yes he had a few quieter games but who doesn't, he ain't gonna be far away from the first team, for me it's Broadhead that's vulnerable and it could be he's crocked quite badly, we won't know for a few days but seeing a specialist.

I can’t believe Newcastle are only looking for £11m for Callum Wilson. That sounds like excellent value but I guess the fee reflects his age which will be 33 in February next.

I think he’d be a great signing and a good mentor for Delap. If we got 2 seasons out of him it could be cheaper than some loan fees although I guess you have to add wages on top which could still be very pricey.

Given his age maybe Callum Wilson won’t fit McKenna’s modus operandi which is mainly to recruit young guns. I think our average newbie so far is less than 23.

I see Corrie Ndaba has proposals on the table from both Kilmarnock and Hibs after Ipswich Town agreed a fee with both clubs. Could be a good move for the player and add up to 500k to the kitty.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I see Sheffield United have given a trial to former Town and QPR midfielder Andre Dozzell.
The 25-year-old features on the bench for the Blades pre-season friendly at Chesterfield and is currently without a club after being released by QPR at the end of the season.
If ever a player failed to realise his potential this is one of them for sure.
