I can’t believe Newcastle are only looking for £11m for Callum Wilson. That sounds like excellent value but I guess the fee reflects his age which will be 33 in February next.
But that's thd kind of PL experience we need isn't it
I think he’d be a great signing and a good mentor for Delap. If we got 2 seasons out of him it could be cheaper than some loan fees although I guess you have to add wages on top which could still be very pricey.
Really like Wilson but his injury record is poor and 11m is WAY too much at 33! You get max ONE season out of him, add 5m for wages and it soon becomes a waste of money.
He’d be a good free transfer only.

I was looking for his injury record but couldn’t find any detail. Is is a repetitive injury or something different every time.
Unfortunately he’s contracted to Newcastle until the end of next season so there’s no way they’ll release him on a free. He’d be a great mentor for Delap at half the asking price but the more I think about the less it fits with McKenna’s youthful recruitment policy

Out of all the players we have been linked with it's Midfielder Saelemaekers that interests me the most, I think he could be exactly what we are looking for to beef up the Midfield area of the squad.

he is a winger though?
We badly need a mobile CM who has height and can get stuck in.
We do also need a winger though to be fair, AMl.

Don’t think the player will be the slightest bit interested tbh. And where are Birmingham getting all this money from or are even being allowed to spend like this? They’ve just paid £5m for that striker we were interested in.
Of course if they have bid that, it’ll put the price up for Town (we offered £6m apparently ).

As long as the transfer fee doesn’t get silly, I think the player will only want to join one club, and that’s us. He’s from Colchester, his family supports Town , and we are PL.

We should get him over the line unless he's a closet Budgie then

Be interesting to see what they spend, you still have FFP rules in league one, I think you can only lose 12m a year - which doesn't leave much space for transfer fee's once you take wages into account. I've not seen them make any major sales either.

Lol, I dint think he is. But some Town fans believe he hates Ipswich. I think that may have stemmed from him giving the North Stand the ear cup action and the schhhhhh sign when he'd scored against us in his Peterborough? Days....he really did give it to the Town fans that day and I have no idea why.

Even if they havd bern taken over they would surely still have to adhere to the league one spending rules?

And he cost them £13 million a year ago after two years at Benfica where he was a bit part player.

Not for me, I also think he is on big wages (70-80k).
Wouldn;t be worth the money for me.

Aside from the rumours, it’s rather quiet on the transfer front. Is it squeaky bum time yet? I know Shabba’s answer? “Honestly…”.

A poster Romford_Blue who seems to often get wind of things ITFC, has stated he’s “heard from 5 different sources that there may be something in this, but it may be another long winded saga as a few clubs including Lazio appear interested in the player” …..
I’ve almost switched off from it all for my own sanity now lol as every single PL transfer appears to be can of worms with convoluted clauses to these contracts….. it’s almost tiresome now and I have respect to Ashton snd his team trying to recruit players this season.

WHY!? We technically don’t need any new players to be able to start the seasons first few games with a OK team. We do need a CM and AML as the most urgent things - otherwise it’ll likely be adding to the squad.

I respect your positivity, but let me try to explain why I’m feeling nervous. Leeds beat us 4-3 & 4-0 and we now have essentially a very similar squad except for Delap, Johnson, Greaves and Muric. Of those four, there’s one potential goalscorer in the form of Delap. Which could be debatable. Our first fixture against Liverpool is merely a few weeks away. Then we play Man City less than a week later. If we get beaten by multiple goals in our first two matches, it could be demoralizing & a confidence killer for future games. We need to be stronger and it needs to happen sooner rather than later.
