I don't think so...let's look at the players that kieran inherited ..who would have thought that he would be playing the majority of them in the Premier league within two seasons!!! From what I've seen of Kent..hes a good player . Takes on players..Good set of skills and an eye for goal too when given a chance .but he probably has been coached wrong and in a system not suited for him..let's give him a chance ..
Oh trust me ill more than give him z chance. I just feel he was / is way down the pecking order of McKenna's wanted list that's all.

The infrastructure is being funded separately by a recently acquired partner with gamechanger, I believe. So im not sure if this external money is linked to our spending on players.

Certain spending doesn’t count against FFP losses I believe. Ie ground and training improvements. Could be wrong but I think that’s how it works.

Many of our upgrades to the facility are mandated by Premier League requirements, surely that expense isn’t included in FFP rules. Can anyone confirm that?

On another note, the transfer silence is deafening. I can only hope the optimist are correct and we’ll get in a few more key players.

Give me skipp and a baller of a AML and I’ll be chuffed 😂

I really hope Saints don’t get Skipp, him and Downes is a formidable central midfield.

As best I recall Liz, Gamechanger sold something like a 40% stake of the football club for £105m to Bright Path Sports valuing the club at the time at £250m. Gamechanger keeping a 50% stake themselves valued at £125m, not a bad return on their initial investment of £40m which is the price they paid for a 90% share in the club.
So I guess this isn’t external money that’s being spent, it’s owners money which is surely subject to FFP Rules although I would expect essential ground improvement spending to be treated differently to transfer spending.

Brentford have agreed a loan deal, with a clause to buy which could become mandatory and worth around £10m, to sign 24-year-old Sweden midfielder Jens Cajuste from Napoli. (Fabrizio Romano)

Birmingham City have agreed a deal with Rennes over a potential transfer of Wales midfielder Jordan James, 20. (Independent)

Two previously mentioned CM rumours.

If Ipswich get the Kent of 3 seasons back then they have a player. He's done nothing for the past 3 seasons.
Nothing to do with coaching and all down to Ryan Kent himself.
If McKenna can even get 1 good season out of him that may just be enough of a gamble.
Looks like a bit of a squad filler and doubt he was at the top of any list of signings !

Seems we are getting beaten up in the transfer merry go round.

Spot on. We are the new kids on the block and no doubt some players are thinking do I really want to join a club who is tipped for relegation or a more established side? Be interesting to see what happens between now and the end of the transfer window.

Nah, surely we could beat either of those two offers if we wanted too. I'm very used to MA & KM pulling off unexpected last minute deals. For now I'm keeping faith in this modus operandi.

It also shouldn't go unnoticed that there has been nothing coming out of the club regarding interest in these Two players anyhow, so as you say, maybe had we been interested we could have got them.

Found this on FFP rules and stadium upgrades:
The Premier League's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, now referred to as Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), are designed to ensure clubs operate within their financial means. Here are some key points:

1. **Allowable Losses**: Clubs can make allowable losses of up to £5 million per season, averaged over three seasons. This can increase to £35 million per year with owner investment¹.
2. **Transfer Costs**: Transfer costs can be spread out over a maximum of five years¹.
3. **Overall Loss Limit**: Clubs cannot exceed a loss of £105 million over a rolling three-year period⁴.
4. **Revenue Spending**: There are proposals to allow clubs to spend up to 85% of their revenue on squad costs, with penalties for exceeding this limit¹.

Regarding stadium upgrades, investments in infrastructure, such as stadium improvements, are generally exempt from FFP calculations. This means clubs can invest in upgrading their stadiums without it affecting their compliance with FFP rules⁵.

Good info, I thought it was like that as it makes sense to allow clubs to improve in those areas as it has wider benefit than just throwing money on wages/transfers.

Gosh, now that would be a punt but *could* be amazing, a rare 'Ross Barkly' case like with Luton last year.

Wages high, injury record bad, ability - high.

I don’t think he’s played since last December when he picked up a serious thigh injury in a Turkish Super Lig match. Has he been released by Besiktas because of this as he still has 2 years left of his current contract which extends to August 2026. I’m sure we’ll be doing all the necessary due diligence checks as we don’t want a high earner who spends all his contract in the treatment room.

Look what Jamie O'Hara and Gerrard said about him a few years ago, could KMc get him back to his best ? Let's hope so if he does sign.

Szmodic is, perhaps not surprisingly, named on the sub's bench for Blackburn's season opener i see.

Kayden Jackson starting for Derby as striker, hope he does well.

Dominic Solanke signing for Spurs today for £65m must improve our chances of finishing the season ahead of the Cherries. 🍒 Let’s hope we can sign a prolific goal scorer ourselves before the transfer window closes.
Solanke scored 21 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season. Their next highest scorer bagged 9.

Yep I saw that on the sub's bench, it looks like we have to forget him and go for someone else, all that frigging time pissing us about, I can see us having a disastrous start against Liverpool and Man City, if we don't get at least 4 or 5 players in this window it will put us at the back a long way, still as they say Rome wasn't built in a day

I wouldn't be surprised if The Cherries now put in a bid for Ladspo.
