Ladapo looked REALLY quick, and fit in that Nice game, and his work rate was off the scale compared to anything I've seen him produce in a Town shirt since he'd joined us.!
He Looks a totally different player to me. Someone's had a word in his ear I think. He definitely knows where the back of the net is.

Have to say after today's news, regardless of if we get anyone else in the door is another example of MA and staff getting things done. I had pretty much ruled out us getting Szmodics due to the lack of activity with Blackburn standing firm and Phillips was a surprise; he's a perfect match for us right now wanting to excel and prove himself under KM. Hopefully we'll be announcing Cajuste has signed later today. He looks a handful!

Trialist Steven Alzate has left the club, no real surprise there.

Attempts - although the shot that hit the post was good to be fair. He is way off what we need IMO

Maybe but I wouldn't change a single thing about Morsy's game, it's what makes him so good.

I certainly wouldn’t change his style of play as that’s what’s great about him and why he is the player he is. I would however like to see him show a like more self control as a few of his cards were completely unnecessary and costly and as captain he should show more restraint.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
We got the Smodzics player on the cheap, there's no two ways about it. 9 million for last season's most prolific second league scorer, hell it's a steal d*ck Turpin would be proud of. If Smodzics were an EPL player, if Blackburn Rovers were a Premier League club name, we'd be looking to pay in region of 15 - 20 M, but while you can't complain at least from our perspective in bringing in the player for something of a derisory amount or blatant steal you got to feel a level of empathy for fans of the club we took him from. 9 million my as* he's worth more than that and then some but it's all about the greater good. Will be real interesting to see just how he continues in the rise from Championship level to Premier league elite and if can continue like before but bottom line here, it's someone we set a target on and now we got him and he's part of the club set-up.
not all up on Phillips we brought in with it. Manchester City paid something like 40 million plus for the player a year or two back, it didn't work out and now they've been forced to sell. Guess they got money to burn in all truth but seems at first thought something of a waste from their viewpoint. We're putting together an impressive squad for the new season, made some interesting additions and names that aroused notice. Got a dilemma of sorts regards who to put into forward attack such is the wealth of options available to us now since we have players like Delap, broadhead, hirst, Smodzics of course and that's just for starters.
McKenna would do well to not now go time and again with the same 4-2-3-1 formation as nearly always before. Just feel with the list of attacking alternatives we now possess i.e the actual forward positions, certain names would be wasted or underutilized if we set about business as same way as before.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Whilst it was a great game today and I'm sure we are all proud of the lads it did lay bare how short we are of numbers. When Burns started limping just before the 6o minute mark it was a challenge to figure out how to replace him. And Al-Hamadi coming on in the PL, well that's not going to cut it.
Few more faces to come in soon I feel once the second free hit game is out of the way we might look quite different.

I must admit DB it’s the striker area where I’m most concerned too. Whilst I think Delap looks a handful leading the attack I don’t actually see him scoring a hatful of goals maybe 10 max but more likely less. Even when Hirst comes back he’s not a prolific goal scorer either and it looks as if we’re going to have to rely on the three that sit behind the lone striker which is why it was so important not to walk away from the Sammie Szmodics deal especially with Conor Chaplin out of sorts.

I think our goals are definitely going to be spread around the team which is absolutely fine by me but yes we have to get another striker in which I am sure we will do. For me we would have AN OTHER, Chaplin, Broadhead, Hirst, Delap, Szmodics and Hutchinson all capable of getting 8-10 goals which is fine by me.

If Chaplin is going to join the party he’s going to need to up his game. It’s not as if his poor showing yesterday was a one off, he’s actually been struggling to find his form for a few months. I’m also not sure if there’s room for both he and Szmodics on the pitch at the same time as their style of play and preferred position looks very similar.

I see Leicester City have agreed a fee believed to be more than £20m for Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp. Whilst I’d have been happy to him at Portman Road, not at that price for me.
Having watched the Sunderland v Sheff Wed game this afternoon I’d still like to us sign Jack Clarke who I think would be a massive investment.

I agree on Chaplin. For me he won't cut it at Prem level and will probably be offloaded. Good pro but not good enough. Probably a good few others in the same campCharnwood wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 2:06 pmIf Chaplin is going to join the party he’s going to need to up his game. As much as I like Chaplin I also don't think he will be able to step up he scored 27 goals in division 1 then 13 in the Championship so how many would he score in the premier, not enough IMO.

Seems to be the going rate for any bog standard player connected to a PL club doesn't it.Charnwood wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 2:11 pmI see Leicester City have agreed a fee believed to be more than £20m for Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp. Whilst I’d have been happy to him at Portman Road, not at that price for me.

I wouldn't give up on Chaplin just yet, although he has got to do a lot better than yesterday.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I think Man United is the most likely if he stays in the Premier League although it would appear he’s been offered a lucrative deal in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ahli.
Maybe he needs a bit more betting money.

Any news on the CM Cajuste? He was in the stand on sat, hopefully like Ed Sheeran he also left at half time
