Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I can see one of two players moving on in Jan window ...if not then, then definitely the summer.
My initial 2 on that list would
Broadcast
Taylor
The squad is very rapidly bring upgraded and quiet of few of those from the double promotions squads aren't good enough. Ipswich Town FC can't afford to be emotional about things, and I think they're indicating that they wont be. If a player can't make that transition, I think we will offload them pure and simple.
I still have Ashtons words, " We will be relentless in our progression at this club, relentless"

Some will be hard to shift due to their current wages. They will have had decent promo raises - some twice so that’s compounded.
Might be tough to find some championship teams willing to match those.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Hey Ash, if we move on or loan all these players out we won’t be able to put a 25 man squad together to get us through the season.
Including the young players who don’t count in the squad of 25 I think you’ll find we’ll keep 30 pro’s including loanee’s.
That means we’ll keep most of those on your list of loans/ moved on at least through to January.

Yeah odd post that, no way we'd move out 2 keepers with only 1 left etc.
Woolfie won't go, he is in the team now and if he slips out the team he is the first in line as backup for RCB.

Charners I think we can still sign free agents with no contracts etc also I didn't mean all at once it was through the season as I think some players will want game time not just sitting on their arses they will be like Harness and get game time with DerbyCharnwood wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 11:20 pmHey Ash, if we move on or loan all these players out we won’t be able to put a 25-man squad together to get us through the season.

There aren't many free agents (good ones) left at this stage, it's quite risky as a player to go beyond the transfer window without a club. Also the squad registration date will be looming etc.ashfordblue wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:38 pmCharners I think we can still sign free agents with no contracts etc also I didn't mean all at once it was through the season as I think some players will want game time not just sitting on their arses they will be like Harness and get game time with DerbyCharnwood wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 11:20 pmHey Ash, if we move on or loan all these players out we won’t be able to put a 25-man squad together to get us through the season.

Also loans cannot go out now until Jan either.
I can't see the squad changing much now, a few might leave in Jan once that window opens.

If I thought Brandon Williams could be re habilitated he would still be worth a risk on a pay per play deal.
Don’t play - no pay, he’d soon learn how to mend his ways.

I get what you are saying regarding ability but tbh I'd rather have Harry Clarke one thousand percent, someone who actually cares and loves the club. I just think Williams is a grade A tosser.

I'm with Mike.. the alure of glory and elation from an against all odds promotion campaign, and then a chance to re-establish himself as a Premierhsip footballer wasn't enough to straighten him out, so I don't think any contract caveats would.
I'd wager he's simply a very immature boy who never grew up. Time for him to start again in League 1 and prove me wrong... I wouldn't hold my breath.

He'll probably focus his thought processes once the money runs out.

Anderlecht Confirm Mendel-Idowu’s Town Switch
Tuesday, 3rd Sep 2024 21:23
Anderlecht have confirmed youngster Tudor Mendel-Idowu’s move to the Blues.
As reported on Friday, the Blues and Belgian side agreed a deal for the former Chelsea youngster, who will go into John McGreal and David Wright’s development squad, ahead of the transfer window closing.
A statement on the Belgian club’s website reads: “After a season with RSCA Futures, Tudor Mendel-Idowu has joined English side Ipswich Town on a permanent transfer.

“Last season, the 19-year-old winger played 16 games in the Challenger Pro League. He has now opted for a new challenge with the club that was recently promoted to the Premier League. Good luck for the future, Tudor.”
Slough-born Mendel-Idowu (above, right) came through the ranks at Chelsea having joined them aged eight before making his move to Belgium in 2023.
As well as his footballing prowess, former England U16 and U17 international Mendel-Idowu was a child prodigy academically, coming second in Child Genius in 2014 and at 13 was made a King's Scholar at Eton - putting him among the top 14 brightest students in the country - having previously been a boarder at the prestigious Ludgrove School.
In 2022, it was reported he was studying Latin, Greek and Modern History for his A-levels.
Mendel-Idowu's grandfather on his mother's side, John Adeleye-Abai, played international football as a winger for Nigeria.

Well if he's not 100% committed to Town, I'm not sure we want him! Why can't he just do balloons in his spare time like Brandon Williams?hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 7:42 amHe's actually now studying classics at Oxford university.
Jokes aside, what an interesting addition. Perhaps McKenna's brought him in to help with all the statistics

He's going into the development squad so one for the future - good to see investments like this though.
Wasn't Steve Palmer at Cambridge uni while he was playing with us?

Free agents Dennis Praet ex Leicester and Brandon Williams are looking for new clubs, ourselves and Wolves are looking at Praet but he might look to go back to Anderlecht, is that interesting ? and with Brandon, I'm sure he would still be a good acquisition as cover for Lief Davis as a left wingback, I know Brighton is very interested in Brandon BUT we could do with his services again now he's free of his Man U contract, what do you others think

He'd have to prove to McKenna/ Ashton thst his off field activities are finished with. Unfortunately the nature of thise activities make think otherwise.

Walton and Burns signed up on contract extensions until 2026, which I think is just reward for getting promotion to the PL . It also acts as a stabiliser for established squad members. Toen doing it right, IMHO

I’ll be even more happy when we get Axel Tuanzebe tied down to at least a 2yr maybe preferably 3yr contract.
