25 Man Squad

Hi all,

Thought we could track this as it ebs and flows in the transfer window. The Rules are a little different, I think younger players didn't count in PL but they do in the Champ.

So I make it we have 25 as it is, but maybe those * players make it 22, leaves us 3 places.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - if we want to bring in we will 100% need to move some out. Some may say we need more than 3 but then who will leave, and not so we end up short in positions? I guess having so many attackers makes the squad a little unbalanced.

Well we definitely need strengthening in CM and striker departments or we are stuffed. Personally I would move on H.Clarke, Al Hamadi, Taylor, Muric and possibly Johnson which would give us some good wriggle room.

But you’d then need two right backs and 3 CM’s Mike.

Can you name a team with a better squad than ours? Like go through their best XI and compare to ours.

It will almost certainly have two or three additions to fill in the obvious gaps in which case it looks pretty strong to me and much better than the squad that got us promoted last time.

Exactly! A lot of the starting XI from the last promotion season won’t even make the bench now.

You mean on paper and fees paid, no we have invested more than the majority of clubs in the Championship. Performance wise, I think things even out a bit. Sheffield United will be a club in a very good position for automatic promotion based on performance. Coventry is maybe another along with Southampton and Leicester. I’m trying to be realistic and not negative. Hope I’m wrong, and we boss the league.

I wouldn’t swap anyone, but I’d certainly look to strengthen our midfield…that’s obvious. And Delap scored 80 percent of our goals, so that obviously has to be addressed.

It’s all about finding players that fit into the manager’s vision and frankly there weren’t too many players who filled that role in the PL.

As Charnwood said, a few more additions may sway the balance in our favour. We’ll see…

In the championship would go straight back down.

We have loads of players who have scored a lot in this league, far more than any other side in the league this year
