Green king v Northstand...."who are ya?"
I am old enough to recall the days that the banter that went on with the old churchmans v northstand crowds were at times comical to listen to and created lots of fun to all concerned, certainly stopped them knitting in the cobbold stands!!!
It would be great to get that spirit back and though i am currently a season northstander, who loves a beer and a good old sing song,I am also tempted to entice others to perhaps join my very loud self and get the green king rocking!!!!!
I reckon a core of 20 of us should do it.....Any green kingers up for it?

of course, be like an away game when you find yourself amongst a small group of isolated vocalists - but to demonstrate true commitment to chant a more rewarding experience would be gained from bottom corner of churchman's upper tier, just inches from the oh so ugly away ranks.loudnproud wrote:I am old enough to recall the days that the banter that went on with the old churchmans v northstand crowds were at times comical to listen to and created lots of fun to all concerned, certainly stopped them knitting in the cobbold stands!!!

The away section is in the wrong place, should be the other end of cobbold....would create a much better atmosphere at home, yes i know thats been said a hundred times beforeGibbsyNS3 wrote:of course, be like an away game when you find yourself amongst a small group of isolated vocalists - but to demonstrate true commitment to chant a more rewarding experience would be gained from bottom corner of churchman's upper tier, just inches from the oh so ugly away ranks.loudnproud wrote:I am old enough to recall the days that the banter that went on with the old churchmans v northstand crowds were at times comical to listen to and created lots of fun to all concerned, certainly stopped them knitting in the cobbold stands!!!

my crate was britvic. and wooden. churchman's top right hand corner - i.e burley's side. shame 'cos i liked alan hunter's song better. my dad attacked a crowd of liverpool with my crate on prince's st bridge one sunny saturday (in defence of some ipswich chaps you understand). they don't make them like that anymore - crates or dads.1978greats wrote:I started my footy watching in Churchmans too....on a crate lolAnglo-Saxon wrote:As a kid I was in the South Stand, Greene King with my grandad in the 60's 70's, effin GREAT FUN, the North Stand were not better than us.loudnproud wrote:I am old enough to recall the days that the banter that went on with the old churchmans v northstand crowds were at times comical to listen to and created lots of fun to all concerned, certainly stopped them knitting in the cobbold stands!!!

I was there too mate, and they were great times, the old Churchmans was far better than the current north stand.
I think you've had a great idea here, I'm currently in the Britannia, but I'd consider joining the party

Ok all points noted!!! What i was perhaps trying to suggest is that a small group core of us,who luv a sing song, should visit green king and at least teach them the words!!! I'm sure there are a section up their who want to sing-a-long but are too bashfull to get things started.Lets face it chaps. Most of us on here would find a song for just about anything...wouldnt we?

My dad took me to Churchmans when I was a kid, he even made me a wooden box to stand on!
I then stayed in their for years but eventually got fed up of being one of the few to make any noise!
Also it was (and still is presumably) full of the worst moaners in the ground.
I'll always remember coming out of Churchman's after a 0-0 draw with a very defensive Grimsby (they just put 10 men behind the ball all game) when we needed a win to seal the Division 2 (as it was then) title and promotion to the new Premiership (in 1991-92) and people were moaning so much you'd think we'd just got relegated!
We then went to Oxford next game and sealed promotion and the championship, I was so happy that we did it away and not in front of the moaning twats in Churchmans!
I'm now a bit of a nomad and go wherever I can get tickets (although I'm no longer welcome in the family enclosure or the Britannia due to excessive noise pollution!) but usually I'm found in the noisy North!
