If we dont get Juan
If the worst happens and we dont get Juan next season, I think we should get Matt Holland back. He shouldnt cost much as he's 31, and not 1st choice at Charlton. His family home is still in Colchester from what I've been told, so it would nice and close for him.

players returning to clubs where they were very successful hardly ever reproduce the goods, id rather keep the great memories than see him perform way below his bestBRIG wrote:If the worst happens and we dont get Juan next season, I think we should get Matt Holland back. I argee with you I'd rather have happy memories of Matt Holland performing at his best rather than seeing him perform under par. Hopefully we will get Jimmy if not then I can see plenty of culbs who will want himRiviera wrote:players returning to clubs where they were very successful hardly ever reproduce the goods, id rather keep the great memories than see him perform way below his bestBRIG wrote:If the worst happens and we dont get Juan next season, I think we should get Matt Holland back. Sorry to rain on people's parades but does anyone remember how bad Matty Holland was just before he left us?
I know we weren't playing well as a team AND he'd been moved around (sometimes playing in central defence) but Holland's complete loss of form was one of the reasons that we were so poor that season.
Matt Holland was a great servant to the club, a great captain and still seems to be a lovely bloke but to be honest I wouldn't want him back, I think we can do better.

Here here tobes - I think he had lost it where Ipswich was concerned at the end. He was a great servant and decent chap which cannot be said of all footballers.toby wrote:Sorry to rain on people's parades but does anyone remember how bad Matty Holland was just before he left us?

His time has been and gone and it is time to move forward. There are other players I would welcome back tomorrow - Ambrose and Herman to name but two - but Matty ain't one I am afraid!!
At the end of his time I felt he was chasing shadows and always felt as though he was just too nice to play football!!
