Penalty

Post by Dazza » Sun Feb 12, 2006 10:40 am

Did anyone think that was a penalty? I have to admit I thought it wasnt when I saw it live from the North Upper, but after seeing it on ITFCvideo its clearly a penalty.

Hand on my heart I'm not 100%....the Green Un said it was debatable...the Sunday Mirror said it was a dead cert  .....but as we all know the saying...."It evens its self out over the season"...so that was the one we were due last Sunday

Where I sat in the GKU it look a deffo, but I have not seen
any footage of it since the game so would reserve judgement till
I have.

However like Nicky says things have a way of balancing themselves
out.

It looked a bit dubious but the ref was a long way back with play so he wouldnt have really been able to see.

Credit to Matt Richards for staying so calm and just concentrating on getting the goal....there's plenty of players out there who would have been distracted and muffed it up.

To be honest watching the replay I think it was a penalty, however Lee's reaction after the guy fell on top of him was a bit over-the-top.

If I can make one complaint about Lee, who otherwise looked superb, was that he made a bit of a meal of several things and if we're all going to slate Van Nistelrooy, Robben, Pires etc for this sort of behaviour then we can't defend it just because he plays for us.

Woah!! No way is he in the same category as those three.....i have never seen him dive, and no-one can say that he did for the penalty as there was a blatant push on him.
