I know this seems a daft thing to say considering how well we are playing . But my thinking is "great if we do make it into the playoffs - but no big tradegy if we just miss out" - in fact we shouldnt put that pressure on oursleves to make them, at all costs IMHO (WE ALWAYS BALLS IT UP ANYWAY DONT WE

).
What really excites me is the thoughts of what a bloody fantastic side we will have next season - I firmly believe we will "do a Reading" - we will have all our players fit (hopefully) ...and I cant see many teams touching us frankly !
What do you lot feel ?

i am with you on this season, those teams in the play-off positions are going to be difficult to push outof those positions.
as for next season all i can say is we are Ipswich Town and on that premise. i'm sure we'll find a way to shoot ourselves in the foot.
but hand on my heart i am optimistic for the future.
i think

I kinda agree, if we do get into the play-offs, I don't think I could stand another disaster like last season.
We're not the real deal yet - the idea of us (this team, today!) playing in the Premiership is a joke, we'd make Sunderlands performance of this year look good. We need to consolidate and build upwards.
On a practical point, I know I'm on holiday when the playoff first and second legs are scheduled, as I rather cynically assumed we had no chance a couple of months back and booked up - more fool me I guess if we do get there in the end!

Thing is though, IF we make the play-offs it will be on the back of a fantastic run of form (because if we don't have a fantastic run of form we won't make them anyway).
So we'll probably scrape in in 6th place and will end up doing a Palace or West Ham and win the damn things.

Considering how things were going earlier on in the season, id take a place in the top 10 at the minute (just as long as we finish above Narridge). The thing is if we do make the play offs, and we do win them, we still don't have the correct finances in the Premiership to compete. I can hardly see the 20 million we get for going up being spent on many players as i reckon half of that will go towards our debt. I think we still have to consolidate our position as a top half championship side before we can actually even consider about getting promoted again.

Yes Fully that is spot on. If we are to get up and stay up then IMO we need another season to gel and to perhaps strengthen in a couple of areas. Play offs would be fun as long as defeat doesn't cast a cloud over the start of next season.

To be honest, if we get into the playoffs, this year we would have a great chance as if you look in the recent years the team that wins is the one who has had a good run into them! i.e. Crystal Palace and West Ham.
