Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
Our main problem Andy, is we fail time and again to get that second goal, and kill teams off. It will at some point come back to bite us in the as* for sure.

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
My thoughts exactly, Tang! That's the problem with expectations. I do see a light at the end of the tunnel now. It seems the reset is beginning to have a positive effect, but as some have said we are playing at League One level. In addition to reviving the club as a whole, I think Lambert is building the foundation for a very good team...at least at this level. It's a stepping stone to one day returning to the Championship, perhaps. I say one day, but I think most of us are beginning to expect promotion this season. If that doesn't happen, how long will the current 'club-unity' remain?tangfastic wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 6:39 amIf we target an early promotion in March, then it’s more likely Andy can pick up a cheap out-of-season flight to Rome.Andym wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 8:05 pmThe chances of us getting promotion are about the same as of me having sex with the Pope.Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 3:49 pmI was thinking of having a good bet on us getting promotion with Norwood coming in, but now with all the injuries no established centre back looking likely and with right back not looking great and Judge most likely going no money being spent I think I might wait and see how things go over the first few matches.
Seriously, before the start of the season I would have bit the hand of for a top six finish - now I would be disappointed in anything less than top two.
Its still far too early in the season, but It’s up to us now not to lose this from here. We’ve got a strong squad still not firing on all cylinders, yet doing enough to win games. The quality of the opposition so far is a big factor.
Funny, I haven't seen any comments from dickhead McCarthy of late. You'd think the c*ck could at least give us credit for a brilliant start. If not for the fans, at least for his former players.

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
Well let's get back to what we all wanted at the start of August PROMOTION. f*ck these cup competitions they have been a distraction and PL has used them to try and keep his large squad happy. Well f*ck that, it is time to to make the fans happy and start winning some league games and win them comfortably. Christmas/New Year is a busy period in the football calendar so being out the FA Cup might be a blessing, he still can play the kids in that other Micky Mouse competition and concentrate the group on winning League games. PL it's time for a settled side and system that served us well at the start. So chin up, let's start Saturday and give Bristol Rovers a good hiding!!

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
Yeah I think the Bristol game is gonna be very important. If we win comfortably, it will be mission accomplished back to our promotion push; if we lose and play like sh*t, unfortunately it will be a confirmation of our struggles and the work that still needs to be done to build a promotion worthy team. Obviously, I hope for the former. It's been mentioned numerous times the size of our squad, but what is worrying is many of those players are not good enough to start or even play...at this level...FFS! Right now, we keep falling back on 'well we're still in second place'. How long will that cushion remain in place if we keep failing to win?
A draw will just paper over the cracks.
COYB!!!

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
I’ll be absolutely shocked if we give Bristol Rovers a good hammering on Saturday. Of course I’d love to see it happen but we have as much chance of achieving that as Jeremy Corbyn becoming Prime Minister.

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
Charnwood I'm sure we all agree with you (at least about Bristol R). I think a win is the key here, and a home win at that.

I hope you’re right DB, we need to get this season back on track and pull away from the pack making sure we leave nothing to chance.

I really hope this happens! From what I've seen, he's been one of our most consistent players...and he scores!

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
He’s going to have to accept a massive pay cut though. I think he’s on something like £30-£35k a week at Everton .
Mind you he’s made his pile now hasn’t he : didn’t he ha e a 5 year contract ? That’s £9.1m !!!

He is definitely the kind of quality we would need if we got promoted.number 9 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 7:21 pmhttps://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-to ... -1-6423652

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
Completely understand Dericks post......, especially with Ipswich Town being in the 3rd tier for the first time in over 50 years.
Not really understanding your reply Andy? Is it merely to accept mediocrity and predict a loss every game? You expecting Ipswich to remain in League One for years to come? Understandable with Marcus Evans at the helm.
I get the anger 100% Deeko Boy. Bristol fkn Rovers at Portman Road! Jaysus H.
All the forum needs today is the double chinned, fat b*stard, slavouring post, "We've no divine right........" ------> FK off with that shyte. And Lambo, YOU stop saying it as well.

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
You made it clear that you don't understand what a fellow supporter is expecting, Andy. He's expecting better is the simple answer. What are you expecting? That's not a dig at you so please don't take it that way......., what are your expectations of the club this season? Because of your reply which you yourself have labelled a stupid post, one can only assume that PRE- season, you were expecting to remain in League One?
The season had started absolutely brilliant in terms of league position etc, but (presumably) it was really all just false and THIS fact in itself is where you feel that fans are expecting too much? Remember, I only see snippets so as said, not a dig......, I am asking.

Re: NOW FOR PROMOTION
I've said from before the season started that I didn't expect promotion. I think our league position flatters us because we won a few games early on that we could easily have drawn. But the nice thing is this: if you dont expect promotion, results become a bit less important. Of course I wish we'd won but there was lots to enjoy today. ...I'll post my thoughts on the match thread if I get round to it.
Apologies again, it's been a strange day for me emotionally. Ten years ago today my brother died on what was his 59th birthday. That's the down side. The up side is it reminds me that none of us are immortal. I'm lucky to be a survivor having successfully (I hope!) undergone surgery for prostate cancer in April.
But back to the footy.....I said last season that if we are a league One club let's embrace it. Despite losing I enjoyed today's performance much more than nearly all last season's. We made mistakes, misplaced passes etc, but we tried to play football. I'll take that any day.

I have deleted a number of posts on this thread (my own included).
Sometimes things get a bit out of hand, and I am as much to blame as anyone here.
It’s Christmas, let’s start afresh and hope that Dericks 2020 wish of promotion comes true.
Cheers Dave
