Sears, 31, is out of contract at Portman Road at the end of the season with Town appearing unlikely to take the one-year option on his current deal or offer the one-time West Ham trainee new terms.
In January, the Colchester Gazette, revealed the U’s had spoken to the Blues about Sears returning to the JobServe Community Stadium, the Hornchurch-born frontman having left to join Town in January 2015, a report which was confirmed by then-manager Steve Ball.
Now, Football League World claim Colchester will revive that interest in the summer.
It would be little surprise if Sears did return to North Essex for 2021/22 given the January interest and with the striker having continued to live in that area while with the Blues.

Your fears of Sears saw greying hairs and years of tears fall in your beers, but jears, sneers rather than cheers, were heard in the ears of all your peers. Then more glares when his shots clears the upper tiers, yet again BlueMike swears, why he never squares to a striker who'd have made the goal theirs.

How do Colchester United fans think about this? They’ve already got Gerken and. Smith.... and it’s not worked out.Not sure they’d want their club to be a retirement home for ITFC pensioners.

We do owe them after pinching George Burley from them, they've already had Frank Nouble from us so they should be grateful

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
No thanksFormer Blues striker Martyn Waghorn is reportedly a Town summer target with the 31-year-old’s Derby contract up at the end of the campaign.
Waghorn left Town for the Rams in the summer of 2018 for a fee of £5 million rising to £7.5 million, signing a three-year deal.
Football League World is reporting that Town are weighing up a summer return move for the former Sunderland and Leicester man.
Fans vs Facts, with Mastercard | UEFA Champions League semi-final preview show
Waghorn was hugely popular in his one season with the Blues, netting 16 goals in 39 starts and seven sub appearances, the Blues having signed for a bargain £200,000 from Rangers in August 2017.
Town boss Paul Cook is set to make wholesale changes to his squad in the summer and it seems likely that free agents currently with Championship clubs will come into his thoughts, although with his ability to recruit at that level hampered by League One’s SCMP Financial Fair Play rules.
The former England U21 international striker is likely to attract attention from plenty of clubs and may still be wanted at Pride Park with manager Wayne Rooney having said a decision on his future and that of other players will be made at the end of the season.
Waghorn will hope to prevent the 21st-placed Rams from joining the Blues in League One on Sunday when they host Sheffield Wednesday, who are 23rd, in their final game of the season.
The South Shields-born frontman has scored three times in 20 starts and 11 sub appearances for Derby during 2020/21.

More players linked.... and back room staff.
https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-ne ... taff-roles
Crewe’s Owen Dale being linked again. He’s a wideman, I believe, but he’s scored 11 goals. Not bad. Good age, too.Crewe wouldn’t be a bad club to source players - very well coached team.

Know nothing of the keeper, perhaps Marko could enlighten us ? Dale sounds a decent target and Crewe certainly are renowned for coaching good footballers

Re the Utd keeper; the clip posted by 'midastouch' on the TWTD machine is all I have really witnessed in normal time. And from memory of that game, while watching, really didn't show much attention to the Utd keeper.
From that 5:41 clip, apart from reactionary, extremely fortunate point blank saves, nothing else really made me think that he'd be an improvement on anyone @ ITFC already. Having said that, it was only 5:41.

We’re looking at Callum Connolly apparently.
https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-ne ... lly-return
Quite liked him when he played for us in the Championship. Can play CB or CM. Did a job for us in CM and I think he could add a bit of steel in midfield.

Yes Connolly did ok when he was here, albeit as a Midfielder, oddly enough I didn't even realise his main position was CB, that surprised me.

This one doesn't seem to be going away.Blues and Huddersfield Offer Rhodes Deal Claim
Tuesday, 11th May 2021 09:33
Town and Huddersfield are reported to have both offered a contract to their former striker Jordan Rhodes, who will be a free agent this summer with his terms at Sheffield Wednesday coming to an end.
Rhodes was linked with the Blues and Championship Terriers at the start of last month with the West Yorkshire side understood to be leading the chase.
Now Football Insider claims both clubs have offered the 31-year-old a three-year deal.
Rhodes scored seven times for the Owls during 2020/21 and played a role in two of their goals as they drew 3-3 in their final game of the season at Derby on Saturday which confirmed their relegation to League One.
The Scotland international has had a frustrating time at Hillsborough having joined them from Middlesbrough for £10 million in the summer of 2017 following a loan spell. Due to a lack of opportunities with Wednesday he spent 2018/19 on loan at Norwich City.
Former Kesgrave High School pupil Rhodes, who joined the Blues as a 15-year-old from Barnsley for £5,000 after his father Andy became keeper-coach at Portman Road, was controversially sold to Huddersfield by Roy Keane in the summer of 2009 having made only 10 sub appearances, scoring one goal.
After top-ups and 10 per cent of the sell-on when Rhodes moved from Huddersfield, with whom he had enjoyed a hugely successful spell, to Blackburn for £8 million in August 2012, the fee Town eventually received moved close to £1.5 million.
Manager Paul Cook has previously said adding goals is among his priorities during the summer as he rebuilds his squad.

Three year deal no maybe one year with an option, I would rather have Pigott from Wimbledon.Bluemike wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 10:09 amThis one doesn't seem to be going away.Blues and Huddersfield Offer Rhodes Deal Claim
