Crooks isn't gonna happen, Appiah was highly regarded, hence the big money move, that said, I've never seen him play

While i agree the prospect of this happening seem unlikely, the story on Celina is not going away.

A lot going on at the moment if all these reports are to be believed. It's hard to keep up. Great to see the management planning forwards too.

If those clubs are genuinely keen on Celina there is no way he'll be coming here, I never thought he would to start with, I think that kinda confirms it. I thought the Gibson deal was nearly done days ago ? That's gone quiet too.

Pompey / Oxford getting twitchy about our supposed high level of spending ……
https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town
But we’re NOT are we! We’ve offloaded literally our whole playing staff from last season, and many players we’ve brought in are for small fees , if any, so far!

Personally Hallam, I think their using us as a smoke screen, Their preparing their fans for not spending as they don't have much.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 10:38 amPompey / Oxford getting twitchy about our supposed high level of spending ……

Deflecting it from themselves, rather than being made to look like they can't compete.
"Look Guys, we've got money to spend, but can't spend it because of these other teams are throwing money around like its going out of fashion"
When in reality they haven't got much to actually spend.

I hope you’re right KLB, but what they are also doing is raising awareness of our activities to the res5 if the league, that we have money to spend, thereby helping to push up target players prices further still. The6 are just “ putting it out there”, aren’t they. They are definitely threatened by us, and omg is every game going to be an even bigger cup final for so many of them.

And if true, which it's not......., and if Ipswich are to be "cup finals"...... It'll be park the bus tactics from opposition and another season in League One......, and Cook out by November.

If it’s a problem - then it’s a good problem to have. I’ll take that anyday to not having any money. I don’t see how we can go under the radar about having money. The agents will be the ones putting it out there and trying to give their players exposure and driving the price up. It’s their job.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 11:29 amI hope you’re right KLB, but what they are also doing is raising awareness of our activities to the res5 if the league, that we have money to spend, thereby helping to push up target players prices further still. It might have the opposite effect and show to players that we mean business and we’re an ambitious club to go to.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Yet another player linked, Lee Gregory from Stoke not one for the future.
Town are being linked with a move for Stoke City striker Lee Gregory.
According to Football League World, the Blues have made an offer for the 32-year-old, who ended last season on loan at Derby County, scoring three goals in six starts and five appearances.
Gregory is understood to be surplus to requirements at Stoke this summer despite having a year remaining on his contract.
The Sheffield-born frontman impressed Rams’ boss Wayne Rooney during his loan spell but the Championship side are currently subject to a transfer embargo.
Town are likely to be on the lookout for another senior striker having signed Macauley Bonne on loan from QPR and with James Norwood among the players already in the squad manager Paul Cook has in his plans for the season ahead.
Gregory was a schoolboy at Sheffield United but dropped into non-league with Staveley Miners Welfare and then-National League Mansfield. While with the Stags, the 6ft 2in tall striker spent time on loan at Glapwell, Harrogate and Halifax before making his move to the Shaymen a permanent switch.
In June 2014 Gregory signed for Millwall and it was with the Lions where he made his name, netting 77 goals in 201 starts and 37 sub appearances.
He joined Stoke in June 2019 and bagged seven times in 29 starts and 21 sub appearances prior to his loan to Derby.

That's the sort of striker we need !! Would welcome Lee Gregory, Daryl Murphy was older than him when he bagged all those goals.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Looks good enough but I don't know if he can play as the only striker plus he would cost a fee and our other strikers would be on the bench, I would prefer us spending on a 32 year old CB, but saying that his record of scoring goals in the Championship is good.

One year left, probably rubbish but just read that we have a new big signing tonight a forward, also that Wigan have signed Wyke.tangfastic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 3:15 pmIsn’t he out of contract?Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 3:01 pmLooks good enough but I don't know if he can play as the only striker plus he would cost a fee and our other strikers would be on the bench, I would prefer us spending on a 32 year old CB, but saying that his record of scoring goals in the Championship is good.

I read an earlier report his contract was up - but seems like he’s a year left. Could be a freebie.Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 3:28 pmOne year left, probably rubbish but just read that we have a new big signing tonight a forward, also that Wigan have signed Wyke.tangfastic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 3:15 pmIsn’t he out of contract?Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 3:01 pm

I think it will be park the bus time at PR this season marko…..we’ve seen all before, when Town have had a good record at home. Teams come here and just sit deep. I’ll put my house on it , this will happen 8n a lot of our games this coming season. It’s going to be tough tbh !

He would have had a better chance of first team football had he stayed with Town IMO.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Sounds to me like his agent has been trying to hold the Club to ransom, re having it written into a contract that he has first team exposure. My thoughts are, Just who the hell does he think he is , bloody Messi??Dazzz67 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 3:33 pmIf this is true the lad has gone down in my estimations, one thing leave but to them.......oooh bad boy...

He will go the same way as Ben Knights and Flores, a ridiculous career move.

Knights & Flores are still very young. A bit early yet to judge their moves.
