Still nothing official from the Club. What are they playing at ?
Liz, remember all good things come to those who wait.

Then again Man Utd might have changed their mind and decided they want him after all!
“Wait”??? ….what’s that.. I’m an Arian, we don’t do “wait”!!
Marko, second word is …” off”!

ITFC will work to their own schedule which will be event driven and not date or time driven. If McKenna is staying there will be no announcement until the contract has been drawn up, both sides lawyers are happy with it and both parties are ready to sign it. There maybe some toing and froing with minor tweaks and changes but I can’t imagine it taking much longer. My guess by the end of this week at latest.
If what I’ve read this morning is correct McKenna’s salary at £5m pa will make him the joint 6th highest paid manager in the Premier League, not bad for a rookie hey.

So reading that he was actually pretty close to joining Palace then, instills me with great confidence and excitement I have to say.

Yeah, I’m beginning to think his agent has a cover your arse mentality just in case. Which is fair in a business sense, but I genuinely think McKenna and family love it here. I know I said things about him being committed to ITFC, but it makes sense to have a plan B.
Trust me, I think if we’re getting beat 9-0 in the Prem many of us would welcome a managerial change, covering our arse so to speak.

QUOTE:
While the speculation regarding the other clubs continued apace, the Blues pulled out all the stops to try to keep hold of their manager with TWTD revealing on Friday that
Ed Schwartz, the CEO of ORG, the US investment firm which manages funds on behalf of the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), the club’s majority owner, flying over from the States to hold talks with CEO Mark Ashton and McKenna.
Those talks were evidently a success and once the new contract is confirmed.

Ultimately, he could have gone to two established PL clubs in the last 4 months, but on each occasion he’s stayed with us. So these coveted clubs aren’t beating us off are they…. I still think it’ll end up being his boyhood club that gets him in 1-2 yrs time. I’m ok with that, or any of the big 5 clubs. The rest are offering nothing more than this Club will not be growing into and being able to offer over the next two seasons. IF we can stay up. McKenna opting to stay here must mean he feels there is every chance we can indeed do this.
Tough ole season awaits though….. I’ve got to get used to that losing feeling again lol !

Every decent mid table PL club will lose a couple of games… I’m just preparing myself for that. It’ll be a shock to lose to Man City and Arsenal, I realise that, but I’d take that if we won the other games to sorry to a 6th PL finish… I’m realistic in our first season back.

If we don’t strengthen our defence, it could be ugly. In KM/MA I trust!

If you’d spent your career in a corporate environment you’d realise that nothing unusual has happened and there’s no reason whatsoever why we should be suspicious of anyone’s actions least of all McKenna’s.
I think it’s time for any doubters to clear their heads and embrace what for me is great news. Now is the time to get behind Kieran McKenna and the team and look forward to the challenges of next season and all that’s likely to happen between now and then. These really are exciting times, let’s all enjoy it without any inhibitions.

Another things that’s crossed my mind is that with McKenna’s stock so high players will be keen to come to Ipswich knowing that his coaching will be at the highest level and probably as good as they’ll get anywhere. Likewise many clubs wanting to send their young talent out on loan may well have Ipswich and McKenna on their short list given his reputation gained last season with the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Jeremy Sarmiento and Kiefer Moore etc. to be honest zi don’t think there’s ever been a better time for town to recruit in the past 40 years. Let’s hope we can make maximum use of this opportunity and milk it to the full.

I must admit I will feel a whole lot better when we actually hear something from the club to put to bed all the rumours and gossip, it looks like it could be today. Of course having KM here is fantastic news and exactly the outcome I wanted, I believe we survive with him at the helm, and actually I think we may surprise a lot of people.
I don't think the corporate environment would be for me, I'm as honest as the day is long and very loyal, if I say something it tends to happen and its genuine which is why I do struggle with certain things where this type of situation is concerned, I just need to tell myself to believe nothing I hear from anyone in football, whether it be contracts, invested in the project or loving the badge, its really all talk
Anyway onwards in upwards, we appear to have our man and that for me was always the best thing for the club and no more than 99% of fans expected when we got promoted.

I’m pretty certain you wouldn’t like the corporate life either mate and in the end neither did I which is why I took voluntary early retirement at 53 and never once regretted it.

Indeed they might. On the other hand, they could just as easily listen to and believe the noises coming out of the Man Utd camp about KM's schoolmasterish training methods and decide they want none of that.
As Magnus Pyke used to say - 'We simply don't know'.

Holy shoot, Magnus Pyke, Rossi

Now there's a blast from the past. Obviously BEST remembered for being a scientist but also for being in Thomas Dolby's "She blinded me with Science" music video
https://youtu.be/V83JR2IoI8k?si=0aqzxvfpENcu8Vns
We could use this in this thread really regarding “the press” ——>> they blinded us, with wind & pish.

Nah - same for most clubs, isn't the average managers time at a club less than a year now? I think most players know managers will come and go.

Not so sure myself, I think players are often swayed by the opportunity to play for certain managers. I'm sure everything will be rosy on that score anyhow once someone clarifies the situation and the contract is signed.
