Re: Ipswich Town vs Wigan Athletic Match Preview
Oh my,Oh my ,Oh my......a few poor results and suddenly Town are fodder and on the back foot with MM on the firing line.....Tut Tut Tut.People.
I support all of the supporters opinions for each and every one of us pump money into the club one way or another and only want our club to do well and succeed.
But i equally remain grateful that a manager like MM has come to our club and and saved us from League 1 obscurity, using whatever tactics he possesses .
Just sit back a bit and look at this assembled squad and the table position we are currently sitting at and ask..."are we over achieving or what?" How much has MM spent putting this outfit together?
We all have valid opinions and mine is that Town are not quite ready for the premier league just yet. Sure we all want to win every game and storm off onto the promised land. But we all know that to compete and stay their,We do need a better style of football being played.
I say we should enjoy this season of mild expectation without the fear of facing relegation.Embrace the fact that Town are punching beyond their weight and enjoy the season.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Wigan Athletic Match Preview
Wigan were as poor a side that I've seen this season which shows the level of our performance yesterday.
Home form for the remainder of the season is going to be crucial in how our season pans out. It is a concern that not only have we failed to score in our last 3 home games (even if one of those was against Southampton) but the number of chances we have created in these games have been very limited as well.
Confidence is a thing which is very easy to lose but a lot harder to regain and we do need to start on the front foot a lot sooner in our home games and look to be more creative and positive. A crisis ? No, A concern? Yes.
Off to Rotherham next week where hopefully I will see a better performance and a win. Also, with a bit of luck it might be a bit warmer than yesterday but I don't hold out much hope on that one.

If you're having a drink anywhere before the Rotherham match let me know Shed and I'll come and find you. I'm guessing Blumike, Hallam & Mach will be around too.

Reality check. Thanks loudnproud, I needed that...you're right, we're not ready for the Prem...and it's not the end of the world. We have came a long way under MM, and I hope we eventually reach the promised land. In all honesty...I really want to see us playing good football again. Fingers crossed.loudnproud wrote:Oh my,Oh my ,Oh my......a few poor results and suddenly Town are fodder and on the back foot with MM on the firing line.....Tut Tut Tut.People.

I had to scroll back and look for that, missed it, but it's there, and God damn it, that's a zoo discussion. Come on, Don......., what is a fan to do? I think it's great. I can see me at Easter road next week;

Me: Should've seen this monkey licking it's balls at the zoo on Wednesday. Fkn hilarious!
The "both feet on the ground" fan is somewhere in between.

No dissing our zoo.

The gulf between the Championship & the Premiership is so wide that no Championship Team is likely to ever be ready for the Premiership, if you're not sure about it just ask Leicester City, QPR or Burnley.number 9 wrote:Reality check. If you think we should wait till we're ready forget it and just accept Chamionship football is here to stay. However if like many you still dream of a return to the promised land, I think it's a case of take it when you can regardless of whether we're ready or not.
The financial reward for promotion to the Premier League is now worth an estimated £60m for a single season in 2014/15 - even if the club finish bottom - and then after their first season, around £60m in parachute payments spread over the following four years.
Just think how much that would sort us out.

I accept the argument to a degree, However we must also look at Southampton,West Ham and Stoke. Perhaps not too far apart as one might imagineCharnwood wrote:The gulf between the Championship & the Premiership is so wide that no Championship Team is likely to ever be ready for the Premiership, if you're not sure about it just ask Leicester City, QPR or Burnley.number 9 wrote:Reality check. Didn't realise that was the amounts involved, Charnwood. Pretty sure Marcus Evans would actually enjoy being the whipping boys for a season for that kind of dough.
And not mocking any zoos , Todd, honest. I love all zoos. I even enjoy sitting watching my son play FIFA in his room..... And that's a bit of a fkn zoo in there! Well, it smells like one.

The other dimension to 'smaller' clubs enjoying short spells in the PL is the legacy of having to honour high-wage contracts when relegation hits. Whilst parachute payments might help ease the pain, FFP Rules etc continue to apply; as might expenditure required to bring stadiums up to PL standard. The money that comes with short-stay PL status can easily be spent; whilst adjusting again to life back in the Championship, and effectively starting again, isn't always easy - ask Wigan! I always look at Stoke as a club who seem to have got retaining PL status pretty much spot-on.
However, PL for ITFC - bring it on!

I assume any newly promoted club would make use of "relegation clauses" in any newly offered contracts or use short term contracts with options to extend. The dangers you refer to may well explain why clubs like Leicester & Burnley are trying to "make do" with pretty much the same squads that gained them promotion.

And when the club eventually make it to the EPL, DON'T go in for any challenges. You'll end up like Bertrand and sent off. That challenge ended up looking serious, but no way he meant it as reckless. Yellow card, yes. No way a red. Non contact sport nowadays. Anyone see the Old Firm game? Craig Thomson, super shyte ref? Every challenge was a free kick.

i have now seen 3 games live this season narwich 0-1, s'ton 0-1 and wigan 0-0.
how unlucky am i?!
that was a disjointed and lacklustre display and i agree with others about mcgoldrick who looked far from interested.
i did not boo at the end but boy that was a terribly frustrating afternoon and it was freezing!

More likely to have a shag in the Congo jungle than the Serengeti LOL.marko69 wrote:So does Stuma like the Dicky...., err, sorry, I mean does Stuma like dicky, do they get on?

Really? You reckon they'll have some "Um Bongo"? I really really miss that stuff. That's the first thing I'd be asking if I ever met one.
