McGoldrick & Sears up front would be a disaster as far as I am concerned, no height, no aggression, no target man all points to struggle, not to mention goals, Sears will get his share but with Didsy on the injury list half the season he won't chip in much, I would much rather we had sold him but we missed the boat there and now nobody will want him.
The most worrying for me is that from what I am hearing there is every chance of a Murphy move becoming reality and not just idle gossip, MM is going to have to weave some real magic should it come to fruition but I am totally convinced that any player within our budgets etc will be a backward step from Murphy, he was that good last season.
He'll only move on if its a PL club and his wife / family are happy to move to that area..... Stoke??
Murphy's style of play is valuable to us and would be difficult to replace and certainly at the likely fee of
£2-3m. However, having said that I will be amazed if Murphy hasbthe same goal threat as last season. Sorry to say, I feel that was a one season wonder, given his career stats.
In terms of players with a similar style, is a pity Varney has an achilles injury because he will be out until around Xmas I would think.
Its up to Evans to either stump and improve contracts, or sell and get the best possible price for any player leaving and then giving ALL the money to Mick to buy replacements.
