Transfer Rumours Thread

Post by phily bon bon » Wed Jun 10, 2015 2:25 pm

Is anyone putting one up? I love the close season with all the rumours and banter about whom is coming and those going. I know its early days but the anticipation of new arrivals is always exciting. Would love to see some promising youth breaking through, and some real pace Down the wings which i think we dont use enough.
Would love Mick to use some of his connections to bring some premier League fringe players here as we have had a good season and a fairly decent reputation in this League.

We do play too much hoofball though and that might Work against us ,so its all to see what happens.

Good summer to one and all. :D

As it is a rumours thread then it would have to be Little Lies.

Maitland-Niles?

Post by Dubai Blue » Tue Jun 16, 2015 12:29 pm

Apparently we are lining up a loan move for Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal.

No i dont but thats the sort of player i would hope we would be sniffing around. We need quaility not quantity and in Mick i trust. We would all like a Little less hoofball and i believe we need a Little more quaility to acheive this. I cant stop banging on about real pace on the wings, its been far too long since we have had it and its well overdue. just hope mick feels the same, its crucial to keep the good momentum going in the new season. Hope we have a gentle start to the new season, but knowing our luck it wont be.
Would love Jonesta as apermanent signing as I dont think Pardews totally sold on him.
The midfield is an area i think needs bolstering but i dont think we need more than a handful of "new" players. Would like to see Stewart and Henshall push on this forthcoming season.

 I see Fulham are still after Murphy, £4 million touted, plus Hull interest, we will see what happens, but Ainsley looks and Cooks good

Add Stoke to that list of interested Clubs , in Murph. A PL club coming in for him may tilt the scales ,as this will be his final shot at that level....IF he's prepared to move the familiy.

The $64m question is , will Muprhy be able to maintain last season form? His career averages have been generally unwerwhelming of approx 10 goals per season. I know he offers far more than just goals, but what should the player and MM do if a decent offer comes in the for 31 yr old?

I would see it as a no brainer for him... If Stoke want him he would be a fool not to go. Its a last hurrah for a player of his age, and might make the difference between comfortable retirement and opening a pub somewhere

Pringle has opted.for Fulham by all accounts. More money orientated than opportunity of promotion perhaps?

If he goes for say £4 million you couldn't blame him, but if Mick does not bring in a quality striker replacement, and we have to reply on Sears & Mcgoldrick or Varney up front, I can see next season being a very bleak one, I mean we was punching above our weight with Daryl, without him goals would nearly dry right up, and we could be struggling down the wrong end of the division, but I'm sure Mick will bring in some young hungry guns, wont he, or put it this way with Burnley, QPR & Hull, and other top clubs like Boro, Derby & Fulham all reinforcing their squads, it aint going to be easy, so Marcus if Daryl and Tyrone move out, its out with the wallet time, and please no friggin loan journeymen.

I would be very, very happy with Sears & McGoldrick up front...

No height in attack with that though, and in this division a lot depends on physical presence. I also think we'd have to have a radical change to out current playing style ( no bad thing I agree).

J4ck22 don't get me wrong about Freddie & Didsie, but and it is a big BUT, if Daryl does go, Freddie is used to playing off Daryl's openings, and visa versa, Freddie on his own up front would be cannon fodder to a couple of decent centre backs, I just don't think Didsie is the same player since all that interest from Leicester, then he got injured (sort of) he wasn't up to much for the Irish Republic, where as Daryl stamped his name as an excellent prospect for a Premiership team, but Mick knows he has to bring in fresh players, we cant go through like we did last season, teams have sussed our boring hoof ball tactics, as there is no plan B, and can rip us apart with playing on the ground, but it will be an interesting run up to the new season, and just see who Mick brings in.

With momentum growing where Murphy is concerned next season could very well be one of massive disappointment, I think we would struggle to replace murphy given what we will be spending, he was number one in the scoring charts and as such there is nobody out there better than him, those that come come close would cost far more than what we will get for Daryl, then you bring in what else he brings to the party and we have one hell of a gap to fill. McGoldrick & Sears up front would be a disaster as far as I am concerned, no height, no aggression, no target man all points to struggle, not to mention goals, Sears will get his share but with Didsy on the injury list half the season he won't chip in much, I would much rather we had sold him but we missed the boat there and now nobody will want him.

The most worrying for me is that from what I am hearing there is every chance of a Murphy move becoming reality and not just idle gossip, MM is going to have to weave some real magic should it come to fruition but I am totally convinced that any player within our budgets etc will be a backward step from Murphy, he was that good last season.

He'll only move on if its a PL club and his wife / family are happy to move to that area..... Stoke??

Murphy's style of play is valuable to us and would be difficult to replace and certainly at the likely fee of
£2-3m. However, having said that I will be amazed if Murphy hasbthe same goal threat as last season. Sorry to say, I feel that was a one season wonder, given his career stats.

In terms of players with a similar style, is a pity Varney has an achilles injury because he will be out until around Xmas I would think.

Its up to Evans to either stump and improve contracts, or sell and get the best possible price for any player leaving and then giving ALL the money to Mick to buy replacements.

The thing is we don't need Murphy to have another amazing season, tally's of 27 are few and far between anyway, it was an exceptional amount of goals, anything around 15 - 20 would still be a very good achievement and not a one season wonder at all, however that needs to be backed up with your second striker hitting say 15 and your third around 12, I see Sears doing his part but it is the third striker that worries me, we also need a fair few more from Midfield and again this concerns me atm.

Skeptical about whether Murphy can replicate the success of last season but if he hits say 20 this time around it will be fine achievement. Sears is reliable, but don't know what the future holds for McGoldrick.

You're right about the contribution from midfield. All successful teams have at least one midfield player who gets into double figures each season so Yes there's some work to be done in the weeks ahead but McCarthy has ample time to get his house in order.

Goals from the 3rd striker , from midfield could/should be McGoldrick - if he can recapture his previous form of two seasons ago.
