Gunnar Gunnarson still on the radar! Don’t give up! He’s the ice in Iceland! He’s known for out maneuvering lava rocks flowing in Grindavik! He says he’s excited to play for Ipswich Town, although the news that Sir Bobby is passed has tugged at his swollen heart. He could be the one!

Agree with you Charny and hope we don’t just sign anyone just for the sake of it. Said the other week it would not surprise me if we ended up going with what we have got and tbh if we try to bring in somebody who is not an improvement on what we currently have then it is a complete waste of time and money.Charnwood wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 7:25 pmI honestly don’t think we’d sign anyone just for the sake of it. Unlike the situation at Sunderland where the Director of Football makes all the decisions relating to the team, including acquisitions, sales, team selection, even who’s on the bench, I don’t see that at Portman Road and can’t imagine anyone coming in who Keiron McKenna hasn’t signed off and thinks he can do something with or already fits with what he’s looking for.

usually I'd agree but I actually feel we need at least 1 player who fits the profile, we only have Jackson and Broadhead, neither actually fit the profile KM wants from a main striker. If we get one of those injured we are seriously low on options.

I agree we all know that we need at least 1 player who fits the profile but the problem is so do the clubs who might consider loaning or selling us a player who fits the bill and therefore that immediately weakens our negotiating position.
The one thing that does surprise me is if we haven’t got very far in getting a replacement in then why let Ladapo go? It seem a very strange decision to me. Yes Freddie might not have fitted McKenna’s profile for a main striker but he still would have been another option.

Agree and why I suspect a deal IS close, they wanted to get his wages (and squad slot) off the books to clear space I guess/hope!Shed on tour wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 10:03 amI agree we all know that we need at least 1 player who fits the profile but the problem is so do the clubs who might consider loaning or selling us a player who fits the bill and therefore that immediately weakens our negotiating position.

If a player is unhappy and wants out, make them stay and you just spread an air of discontent and unease. I had the feeling months ago that Freddie wasn't happy and everything has played out exactly as I expected since. I'm not saying that he spat his dummy per se (although he does have history), but you'd think that if relationships were healthy, then he would have relished the opportunity to fill Hirst's boots... I imagine at that point the situation was too far gone. Holding my hands up that it is unfair on Freddie to read between the lines like that, this is a forum which without opinion and speculation wouldn't exist!

Ricco, tbh I’ve had a similar feeling for a while . But I can understand Freddie’s situation. However when Freddie was at Rotherham when they gif promoted they too eventually offloaded him. He’s a fantastic striker at league one level. Sadly he doesn’t have attributes to his game at the higher level . I wish him well at Charlton and think he’ll do well there.

Basically it's saying about Maximilian Entrup! The 26-year-old striker has spoken verbally with @Holstein_Kiel about a contract until 2027 for a transfer fee of approx. 1 million € ,though no deal is done yet!
Schalke are eyeing a summer move for him, while Bristol and Ipswich want him now. !

Apfelstrudel mit sahne (apple strudel with cream), now that takes me back to my coach driving days when going on skiing trips. Would always try to get a pass to go up on a ski lift to sit at the top and have strudel with a coffee! Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Looking at the rumour ref KM, some are saying Bournemouth are looking for a permanent deal.
With his price tag and wages that is now looking highly unlikely.
So this Austrian lad will be the cheaper option.
Also more left back rumours flying about, someone trying to unsettle us with the LD West Ham links again I reckon. Think KM will tell them to naff off unless his sale (which should be pretty decent) would pay for the addition of a striker too.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
I think you're on to it there Dazzzzzzzzz. I think it's all a very complicated web of possibilities and that is why we'll only see it take it final form at the end of the window, as everyone has to get their finances and replacements lined up.
It's clear that we're running around, seeing what strikers are available and at what cost, that should keep all selling clubs honest, as we can present them with our range of potential targets, no egg in one basket. I imagine we're keeping as many options open as possible and that probably includes selling Davis and bringing in Johnson, we just don't know whether there's a 2% chance of them taking that path or a 92% chance...

Stuart Watson’s picked up on rumour now:
Ipswich Town: Maximilian Entrup reportedly on Blues' radar
IPSWICH TOWN FC

Ipswich Town are interested in signing Austrian international striker Maximilian Entrup, according to a report from Sky Sports Germany.
Entrup, 26, has spent the previous four seasons playing in the third-tier of Austrian football for FCM Traiskirchen and FC Marchfeld Donauauen.
His prolific form at that level - 39 goals in 52 games - earned him a move to Austrian top-flight outfit Hartberg last summer and he has continued to find the net regularly, bagging eight goals in 12 games this campaign.
Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, who has 266k followers on X, reports that Ipswich and Championship rivals Bristol City are ready to make a move for the 6ft 1in front man before the January transfer window shuts next Thursday.
He stats that a fee of around €1m (£855k) would be needed to land a player who is also said to be on German club Shalke's 'list for the summer'.
Entrup made his Austria international debut as a substitute in a 2-0 friendly home win against Germany last November.
Austria have qualified for this summer's European Championships in Germany after finishing second in Group F behind Belgium. They have been drawn alongside France, Holland and the winners of the play-offs including Wales, Finland, Poland and Estonia.

MA/KM are playing a complex game of transfer chess. Difference between us and them is that they at least can see all the pieces, and can assess true worth to the team!
