Re: The pathway to survival
BBC assessments of Premier League so far. Ours was more favourable than Southampton & Leicester.
17. Ipswich - Tractor Boys finding their feet
It has been a tough start to life back in the Premier League for Ipswich with Liverpool and Manchester City their opponents in their first two games, and unsurprisingly they both ended in defeat for the Tractor Boys.
However, last weekend's game against Fulham provided a more realistic opportunity to give an indication of how competitive they could be this season, and the signs were encouraging.
They drew 1-1 but had chances to take all three points, with Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno made several important saves.
The performance was particularly impressive considering eight of the 11 who started played their football in the Championship last term.

Have only just noticed Saints have lost all 3 opening games. Don’t know if they’ve played anyone of note in those defeats.

Downes has looked a bit lost this season from what I've seen, unlike super Samy Morsy

The southampton away game on the 21st (another I have miserably failed to get a ticket for) is a really important game for both sides in terms of avoiding relegation.
I think I'd almost go as far as to say, Southampton are practically down if they lose.

You really can’t say that so early in the season, teams have been bottom 3 at Xmas and got out of it etc.
I agree it’s a huge game though.

Re: The pathway to survival
Nah you're right but if they're in the quagmire at the end of september, it'll be hard to see how they in particular can dig themselves out. They're not scoring goals, game plans aren't coming off and it's not clear Martin has it in him to change things around.
They have a home game v man u on the 14th. If they get something out of that, then maybe the picture's not too bad. But if they lose both september league games, they go into October (when they play arsenal and city away) pointless...
I'd far rather be us. Put it that way.

That UTD game will be a big relegation 6 pointer for both sides

We need Manure to do well we don't want them looking for a new manager.

Re: The pathway to survival
Well we got the point from Fulham which was the minimum requirement so not a disaster.
Brighton away however I've put in the category of a cluster of away days where we need Four draws, hmmmm, not sure this will be one of them.

I like it, you're starting to think like me Mike, I have a good feeling about this one and think we'll take the 3pts too

Re: The pathway to survival
Well the point at Brighton was definitely a bonus and one which was earmarked, I must have been drunk when I said that, got away with it though.
Southampton was obviously one that was labelled as one of the potential 4 away wins we need, didn't quite materialise so it will have to come from somewhere else.

I’ve always disliked Villa so that would be a good time to get our first win.

Re: The pathway to survival
Well it was a point gained against Villa which is a bonus and I had West Ham away as a free hit too so we could really get ahead tomorrow with a positive result.
