I can see the good-feel story that these guys with families want to remain in the area by signing for Col U - but hardly ambitious and these players were all big senior voices in the dressing room here. Maybe too comfortable here. Good luck to them, but glad they’ve gone. I would have respected Chambers more as a player if he’d signed for Gillingham at L1 level. Would have shown he really wanted to see out his career at the highest level possible.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 7:34 pmOh Im pleased he’s gone back there tbh. I don’t think he wants to move ( Gillingham is a sh*t hole tbh), he’s only just moved from Henley Road to somewhere near Rushmere….and Colchester is handy in his twilight years isn’t it….and who’s to say they won’t get promoted this season?

I was born in Colchester so I've got a soft spot for them, my uncle Fred not Freddie hardly missed a match in the old days.

I remember commenting further up this thread when we signed Burns that I was underwhelmed with the signing, Mike, and I stand by that.Bluemike wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 6:11 pmThree championship clubs were after Burns but he chose us Gary, or do you not think he's decent ?rossi wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 2:25 pmOf course we are, Liz - I thought this would be the case all along. As for Championship clubs being after him - well, I must have missed that, which clubs were they and did any of them actually make Fleetwood an offer for him?

It said we beat of competition from Coventry, Hull and Millwall to land him, but no I have no idea if they put bids in or not.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
Coventry never put forward a price for the player or made an attempt to sign. They showed interest for a time but no bids were made. Not sure about the other teams in question. Not entirely up on what forwards we got at present time, I know some names like Sears have moved on but somehow feel Burns isn't any better or more accomplished than any of the strikers that remain. We did business for an undisclosed amount, don't know what the big secret is but anything more than 1 million would appear absurd.
Say one last time don't know why we needed to bring in the player. Burns' record with previous clubs is hardly prolific in fact has a lousy goals to games ratio although maybe just may hit it off with us and prove to be something of a success. May take a time to adapt to new surroundings and whether Cook picks him for the first few games from August. Other forwards that may come in before that time could also contribute him falling down any selection order.

Re: Paul Cooks 1st Transfer Window rumour thread.
I do not believe he has been brought in for his goal scoring ability SJ. Looking at stats for last season (source: whoscored.com), it appears that majority of his games were played as RB or RDM with dribbling and ball interception listed as his strengths.
Was trying to recall the left sided pairing around the time of Clapham and Hreiderson (it may well have been these two! ) who used to combine well and cover defensively when the other bombed forward. I quite like the thought of having Burns and a fit KVY playing interchanging roles if both like to go forward but are also pretty adept at defending too.

SJ, I think there was talk of Burns’ transfer fee of being low 100k’s - not a million. And he’s not a striker - he can play right wing, RB or RWB. When he played against us the last game of the season he was playing RB.

"Superb player, firm fan favourite for years, quick, skillful, can finish as well. Always grafts 100% will be massively missed"
"excellent player mate majority of the fans devastated to see him leave"
Some comments from the Fleetwood Fans, seems he is highly regarded there. 'hard working' was a good thing to see.

His goal ratio was 1 in 2 games for cardiff this season (20 in 41 matches) and I think its 1 in 3 for Wales. Not sure who else they have who can play as a lone striker in the way they need.Dubai Blue wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:58 amTalking of which..... Keiffer Moore playing in the Euros? Really?

LUTON, Blackpool and Ipswich are locked in a £100,000 tug-of-war for non-league midfielder Sonny Carey.
A number of other Football League clubs - including Bournemouth - are also tracking the 20-year-old King’s Lynn Town player.

Let's hope he turns out to be another Tyrone Mings, there are definitely some gems to be found down the non league route.

I agree, having Maguire as ready to go as possible could be vital for any later stages of the competition we might be involved inDubai Blue wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 8:09 amLooking forward to watching Mings again tonight. Don't reckon Southgate will risk Maguire yet.
The question is would you make any changes to the starting line up? For me personally i think the starting 11 places are the previous 11's to lose, so no changes for me if all are fit.. Kane had a quiet game, but is always good for a goal. Would like to see Grealish at some stage though.
How about you Marko? How would you like to see Scotland approach this, team selection-wise?
